FAT32. The File System used by Win98SE that has no security like NTFS file/user permissions. The lack of FAT32 security may be your answer to a lot of problems with FSX. Mine was a license issue + couldn't install ACCELERATOR pack. Windows 7 offers all the tools to create a FAT32 from available space from your C drive. ControlPanel>>AdminTools>>ComputerManagement>>Storage>>DiskManagement. Right Click on Drive C and click "shrink volume". Set shrink size to just under 32 GIGABYTES. Then format it as FAT32, Reinstall FSX into the FAT32 partition and ENJOY!!!. The install may take almost 2 hours so just let it sit. This (installing into) FAT32 thing will solve so many issues. In NTFS, if security on one file it tries to access - fails or a service FSX needs to run fails THE APP WILL FAIL!!!!
One solution to some problems in FSX is to insert the 1st installation disk and run the setup utility. Click on "Repair" to run the repair utility. You won't lose any data or settings, the utility just looks for errors in files and for missing files.
Each time you are installing FSX installation is leaving behind files. Get a good quality registry cleaning program. Uninstall FSX, reboot, use the reg cleaner, then reboot, then re-install and you will be okay
Have you searched the registry using CTRL + F and typing in FSX or Microsoft? This should find all entries. If not, then FSX is not installed properly and you need to uninstall FSX, reboot and re-install. Good luck with it.
OK. This is what you need to do.
1. Uninstall FSX completely the reboot. 2. Press CTRL + F and type in the search box "FSX" 3 Each entry that comes up should be deleted from the registry. Press F3 to continue searching. When no more appear, reboot and re-install ensuring that FSX CD's are clean. If you are not confident clearing registry entries, get a reputable registry cleaning program, but use it after you have uninstalled FSX. Good luck
Installation should be performed whilst FSX is not running. Then when you start FSX after installation, it will ask if you wish to add this aircraft, say yes, then off you go. It will then appear in your aircraft selection window.
This is a registry issue. Get yourself a good registry cleaning program, uninstall FSX, reboot the PC. Run teh reg cleaner, then reboot. Now you will be able to install FSX okay. Good luck
Get rid of the pirated version, which is completely illegal and buy a proper copy and you will have no problem. If you try to register this software or update it, Microsoft will see it is a pirated copy and probably contact you with a law suit.
If you have FSX Deluxe with the Acceleration expansion, you already have all the latest patches installed and do not require anything further. FS9 is an older version of the game, NOT a newer one.
Just go with what you have now, it is all updated to the latest.
