I have the same problem with the same HDD, but it happens to me only when I use the usb 3.0 port, with 2.0 I have not problem...i read that could be the driver of the HDD, which it lose when you give format :S someone have a solution?
That sound is made by the platters of the disk rubbing on the reading heads - the hard disk is dead , it has destroyed itself. All the data is lost.
Sorry, there is absolutely nothing you or anyone can do about that.
To unlock the region limitation of your machine: (all the following is done on the remote)
Press <Home> Go to the Easy Setup Menu Go to <Setup> "Hover" the cursor block over the Lock symbol (don't enter yet) Enter 0000 on the remote A Congratulations message comes up. Press <Enter>
The HDD on this set is a SATA drive. It connects directly to the main board on the set. You can take the drive out of the set and format it on your PC, if it formats then replace the main board. If it will not format replace with a SATA drive of similar size.
I got a DVD+R & a DVD-R recordable discs and I used my LG HDD\ DVD recorder model RH1F99MHS and i recorded on the discs , the DVD can read them but my pc & laptop can't also other DVD players can't play them
I've found that once a disk is formatted in certain formats with a pc it prevents the LG from reading it. Format it again in the LG (if you can!) or use the pc to format it using the UDF1.5 setting in a pc (which sort of resets it so the LG can at least see it as an unused disc again).
All in all I have found my RH19991H really confusing as far as disk initialization and formatting and finalizing is concerned. Sometimes you can select to finalize a +-rw dvd and sometimes not (the latter is the the case according to the manual) and sometimes I can select the format mode and sometimes not. Sometimes the machine auto finalizes the dvd+-rw (the way it should be says the manual) and sometimes it does not and then I cannot use it in the pc. I have also created some disks with DivX files and was able to play them in the LG and then using the same pc, same type of discs, same video editing software and same settings created other DivX files I could not play on the LG. It seems the software on the machine needs some work...
