How do I fix the lock

My sister pulled the door open before it was finished and broke something in the lock mechanism. I then unscrewed the little lock thing on the washing machine. Heard something fall down and can not attach the screws again. The machine didn't lock before but would still run. I found that very worrying wig kids in the house. Now it doesn't even start.

You're going to need to open the washer and retrieve that lock, Malin. You should also get a replacement for it and install it so the washer will lock properly again. Last, tell your sister not to be so brutal with equipment - that never helps anything.

SOURCE: door will not open. lock handle floppy.

take top off and see if you can feel for the door peg sticking thro the interlock and operate by hand.
also, you can chew away the door handle and operate the door peg with a small screwdriver.
the door handle kit will need replacing anyway

My Hotpoint wdl540 has finished its wash cycle but the lock light remains on and the door is locked. Tried all sorts to get it to unlock including running another cycle.

Firstly, to get the door open, if you unclip the bottom kick plate, you will find a small green tag hanging down on the right hand side. It is a door lock bypass. if you pull gently down on the tag about a centimetre, while it is pulled down, you will be able to open the door.

Turning to the problem its self, two issues can cause the door to remain locked. In order of which is more likely:

1) While it's ucommon, it's not unheard of that the 3 wire connector that clips to the bottom of the door swich inside the chassis develops a poor connection. Typically, this will cause one of the connectors to arc and burn the connection on the connector and if you're unlucky, the door lock mechanism as well. Remove the lid of the machine. Remove the door lock mechanism by unscrewing the 2 screws that can be accessed through the door aperture and lift the lock mechanism out to examine it (Note that the green tak is on a long strip that connects to this mechanism, so take care to lift this away in conjunction with the lock as you remove it. You may need to replace the connector and possibly the switch too.

2) Since power to the door lock runs through the motor circuit, if the motor brushes are heavily worn, the door lock won't disengage until they are replaced. This is absolutely counter-intuitive and it took me a few years of experience to figure out this little gem!

My passenger door was opened while the lock was still down. Normally the lock pops up and the door opens but something snapped inside and now even when I lock it it can still be opened. Any ideas what

Not sure what broke but if you take your door panel off you will be able to see what broke and repair it yourself. Pretty simple mechanism and it will not cost you 500 to fix it yourself. A parts store will steer you in the right direction and sell you the parts. Should not be over 150 dollars to fix.

98 accord door handle broke door will not open

A non electric door, (which?) wont open, lock works ok, handle wont open the door.
What can I do to fix it.
well telling the door to us would help, and options.
so no electric locks,
there are 2 levers. one inside and one outside.
so you pull the door card (inside door covering)
and look at both locks , the inside pull, its it working?
then look at the key lock cylinder. is it connected still
and last are both connected to the latch mechanism.
one can cycle this latch lever inside the door shell.
if that fails the latch is busted.
all this is covered in the FSM ,why not read it.? (under body)
free , too.

How to remove door handle on 99 oldsmobile aurora

unscrew the 2 screws on the bottom of the inside panel, then unscrew the large phillips head right behind the interior handle and remove the plastic cover next, you need something stiff and wide and flat, like a large meal file with a t-shirt wrapped around it so it doesnt **** up the leather pry it UP and a little bit outward and it will pop off, I was going on the fly and broke the little brackets and I had to us 1minute gasket to seal them back on really well. the connectors come off by the little clips on the side, stick a flathead along he side of the connectors and they will click out, you will feel them slip loose. not the panel should come free from the coor. next you need to remove the flat metal cover that has 2 bolts in it, basically right in the middle with the right side bolt touching the lock mechanism as well. it will unbolt then slide the tabs down and out...easy. the door handle is held on by 2 bolts, youll have to squeeze your hands to the right of the metal slider for the window and over the metal bars for the lock. I got the left one with a wrench and the right one I had to stick my left hand where I mentioned and m right hand had the wrench. the handle will be free by then, and you can slide the left side out first. then gently pull the bottom of the handle housing out and to the left at the same time and it will pop out. un-screw the two bolts to remove the bars from the lock on the bottom and the top elbow comes off as one piece with the metal bar going downward.
and there you go buddy...I just had to fix my door handle and it reuied removing it, just did it today. took about 2 hours, but I had no idea what was doing and had to figure out the mechanism by myself...computer broke conveniently enough!

How to replace a door handle on a 2006 hyundai sonata, i either broke the handle and need to replace it or I am trying to figure out how to fix the drivers side handle

Step1: First, unscrew the 7 screws holding on the door panel
Step2: Next you carefully pry off the tweeter cover that is where the mirror is.Lift the panel up and off of the door . Undo all of the wiring connections except for the window controller.
Step3: Open the 2 black rubber view ports (Circled in Yellow) and roll the window up or down until you see the 10mm bolts that hold the window in place.
Step4: Loosen, but don’t remove these bolts. Slide the window up, and tape it up, or remove the window and set aside. Next, unplug the door lock plug and move the door panel out of the way.Unscrew the gold 10mm bolts that hold on the metal inner door panel . Also remove the Phillips screw that holds the inner door handle on
Step5: Unscrew the small bolt that holds on the lock cylinder that is behind the quarter-sized black cap on the side of the door. Be careful with that little bolt or it will fall into never land .Pull the lock cylinder out and set aside.
Step6: Now grasp the door handle, and with your free hand smack your hand holding the handle towards the back of the car. This will release the door handle.Under the door handle is a Phillips screw. Loosen this screw a few turns but don’t remove.
Step7: Now undo the 3 black star shaped screws on the door lock. You can now wiggle the inside of the door handle until it comes free. See the tabs that hold it onto the door . When you go to put it back on be sure the tabs get back in the right place.Pull the whole inner door panel and lock mechanism free by wiggling it out of where it sits.
Step8: Now you can undo the 3 cables; 1 from the outer door handle yellow mechanism, 1 from the inner door handle mechanism, and 1 from the inner door lock lever.Put on the new lock and put it all back together. Be sure to test it as you go. I had to turn the lock cable to the inner door lock lever 180 degrees because it was not unlocking properly when I put it back together the first time.
A couple of other notes, there are 2 pieces of plastic that are for the robots to use when putting the door together for the first time. one is a 3 pronged white plastic thing riveted to the inside of the metal door panel. The other is a white plastic thing covering the lock mechanism. You can cut off the fingers and throw the plastic cover away they are both useless and in the way. When you put it all back together, just go in the opposite order of disassembly. It is a little tricky to get the yellow plastic outer door handle holder into place. Be sure that the little tabs grab the metal of the door or things will not fit together properly.Be sure to test the power window after you put the window back in place. Do not overtighten the bolts on the window, it is glass…..

Door not closing, mechanism not ingaging

Hi. Have you checked the "child safety" catch the prevents the door being opened from the inside? That might be in the wrong position and causing a problem. I had a problem on my 93 Golf and I got it working again by exercising the catch mechanism with a screwdriver - pushing the locking mechanism- the greasy bit on the edge of the door - up and down numerous times and lubricating it again.

Hope this helps. If this "fixes ya", I'd appreciate a rating for my reply, If not, please delay the rating and add a comment with any extra info you have and I will try to think of something else.

Cheers, D.

I have a Bendix Autowasher 800 washig machine. The door lock seems to have broken, with a load inside the machine, and I can't open it to get the load out. The cycle has finished. I think I broke it by...

Have the same problem myself.

Remove top panel from washing machine by undoing two fixing screws to rear and sliding panel forward to front of machine.
Door lock is located internally on right hand side, its difficult to reach and I had to loosen the control dial and switches to gain access.
However it may be possible to release the mechanism by touch.
At the back of the lock mechanism the latch protrudes by approx 3 mm if you can see it or feel it you only have to apply some pressure to the projecting end to release the latch.
The broken release lever can then be removed from the door and replaced by a new part which cost about €6.
