Sounds like a defective video driver IC (integrated circuit) or the soldered connections to it.

Hello
You haven't given the exact model number ot your LG DVD, so I can only give you a general solution to this problem.
Get into its meny, surf through, come to SYSTEM adjust window, change the system. If a NTSC system recorded disc played with PAL system adjustment with DVD, there will be only black/white pciture, and vice versa.
Adjust it to the color system thathave been adopted your country. this must solve the problem. OK.

Cyan and majenta tone is not good

Solution : Perform an Automatic Gradation Adjustment (Color Calibration) Automatic Gradation Adjustment compensates for tones when the color tones shift in color copies / prints. Compensating for color tones maintains the quality of color copies / prints made by the machine at a fixed level.

NOTE: Output of the Automatic Gradation Adjustment chart is added to the metered copy count.

NOTE: When Gradation Adjustment is selected, the following changes will be made to default copy settings set in System Settings mode:
  • Copy Density = Normal or Auto
  • Color Shift =Normal
  • Saturation = Normal
  • Color Balance = 0
  • Sharpness = 0
  1. Press the [Access] button (key symbol) on the Control Panel. The Access button is located above the number "3" on the numeric keypad.

  2. Using the numeric keypad, enter your administrator password and select [Confirm] on the Touch Screen. The System Administration Menu screen will be displayed.

NOTE: If you do not know the password, contact your administrator. The initial password at machine install is 11111. If the administrator encounters a problem with changing the password, or forgets the password, a service call must be placed.

  3. Select [System Settings]. The System Settings screen will be displayed.
  4. Select [System Settings] again.
  5. Select [Common Settings].
  6. Select [Image Quality]. The Image Quality Adjustment screen displays.
  7. Select [Automatic Gradation Adjustment].
  8. Load 8.5 x 11 inch (216 mm x 279 mm) or A4 (210 mm x 297 mm / 8.3 x 11.7 inch) paper in Tray 5 (Bypass Tray). Adjust the paper tray edge guide so that the guide gently touches the edge of the paper stack.
  9. Select the desired gradation adjustment screen.
  10. Press [Start]. The Adjustment Chart is output.

NOTE: When printing the color chart for Auto Gradation and you get the message,'Auto Graduation Procedure has completed with an error' make sure that 8.5 x 11 inch (216 mm x 279 mm) paper is loaded into Tray 5 Long Edge Feed (LEF).

  11. Place the Adjustment Chart face-down on the Document Glass with both the Magenta color patches against the left side of the glass.
  12. Place 5 sheets of white paper on top of the Adjustment Chart and close the Document Glass Cover.
  13. Press [Start].
  14. To continue Automatic Gradation Adjustment with other screens, repeat steps 6 to 10. When you are finished, select [Close] until the System Settings screen is displayed.
  15. Select [Exit] to exit the System Settings mode.
Hope it helps!

My screen is completely black, but the sound is fine.

Hello:

I would start with the fact that you might not have any high voltage so your picture tubes are not lighting up, You can determine this by listening closely to your set with no noise in the immediate area when you turn on the set, you should hear a brief static sound from with in the set when u first turn on the set, if not them there is no high voltage, If you can't determine if you hear the sound or not, another way to determine is remove the lower front cover form the set and there should be a small wood or plastic panel behind it. Remove it also and look for a grey or black device with six adjusting knobs, this is the focus and screen block, It is labeled with three on top and three on bottom which is Screen focus, and Screen Bias for each individual tube one knob labeled R for red, G for Green, and B for Blue. Do not turn the ones that says focus as you will need a video picture to reset, since right now you have no video. The other three knobs are screen bias controls, turn either one ONLY! one slightly to the right while looking at the screen, considering which one you turn the screen should turn that color. If it does'nt then your problem is either no heater voltage or no High Voltage. I recommend you put a mark on the control before turning it so you can put it back to its orginal location. One final note worth exploring, if you are connected to a cable box check its connections especially if you are connect through Componet Video for HD, I have found that some times the Green Cable come out and this will produce no video also. Try hooking a dvd player of sort to an video input and use your remote to change to that Inpout and see if you have a picture if you do then Its more then likely your cable box is faulty not producing video or hooked up wrong, If you are connected by componet cables make sure they are connected green to green, red to red and blue to blue...

Pretty colors

Sounds like the other DVD player went bonkers. Try unplugging power on the DVD player you were playing the game on for 5 minutes, then plug it back in.
