On the desktop the door is near the top (on the front) of the CPU case.
Laptops are usually on the right side.

I cannot be more specific without knowing the type and model, sorry.

Gateway MS2370

I chatted with a Gateway rep - he said that although it sure looks like a drive door, there is no optical drive (CD or DVD) in the MS2370 model. But, no problem, he continued - just use a USB driven external optical CD or DVD. Luckily we have an external drive, guess that's what any other people who looked at this model (saw in Target) and assumed what looked like a drive was a drive door. Guess they just had the basic case with an opening for a drive they simply covered over to leave us all frustrated at trying to open it.

How do I remove the back of my Gateway ZX6971-UR30P. I have a cd stuck in the disc drive and the door won't open.

Have you tried to use a straightened out paper clip to eject the disc. You should see a small hole next to the eject button on the disc drive, just push the paper clip in that and the drive door should open.

Help LITE-ON DVDRWSHW-1635S door wont open on Gateway computer

There are two ways toopen the CD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drivetray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive traypops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CDdisc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD driveis faulty and needs replacing.

I cannot eject a mini cd from my gateway one computer. please help.

When the door won't open, you should see a small hole on the front of the tray, get a fine screwdriver or needle push it in until you hear a click the tray should pop open, pull it all the way out to retrieve your cd and check for any deb-ri, try a standard size disc to see if it will work, if not the assembly may need replacement.

I have a DVD door that won't open. I tried to

Unless I am mistaken there will be a little hole on the door (or near it). That is the manual eject, use a pin or a paper clip to press the button inside.

How do you remove a cd in the gateway one GZ7108 computer when you cannot load windows?

- open the cover
- remove ventilation shroud

you'll see that some electronics od CD/DVD drive are exposed (right side of PC, face of the drive where the CD is inserted)

You can easily locate an LED, if not turn on the pc and you'll see that blink. Right next to it there is a little bump. Try pressing that with something non-metallic, blunt. It should feel like pressing a button, in fact it is a hidden button.

While the pc is on press that once and wait for the disk to eject.

I have 2 Gateway laptop computers and in one of them the CDROM Drive got fried. I would like to replace it with the one from the other laptop. How do I exchange them?

Before beginning, review electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions. Disconnect the power adapter, the modem and network cables, and remove the battery before removing the hard drive bay cover. Remove the RAM door whichi s secured by one screw. Now loosen the two hard drive screws and pull the DVD/CD-RW drive from the laptop. Replace the cover before restoring power or reconnecting the modem and network cables.
