My Onkyo TX-V940 amp/tuner has no display. The unit still works fine, but no display. This happened between usages, one time all was OK, next time, no display. What has happened and how can I fix it?

None. Have no manuals.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-V940

Hi,

the protection circuit has failed. I sometimes find that the contacts in the protection relays will be slightly burned and that will make the sound cut out randomly. Turning the volume control up higher than normal will make the open circuit of the burned relay contacts work again and so will the sound.

in most cases replacing the protection relays will fix the problem. You may want to first verifiy that the relays are defective by measuring the contact resistance when the problem shows up.

Goodluck,

SOURCE: Tuner Omits No Sound - Onkyo TX-SR605 7.1 Channels Receiver

Make sure your receiver is hooked up to proper AM and FM antennae. Try switching to AM, scan stations. If you hear AM static and/or weak signals the problem could be antennas are not hooked up. FM has AFT which blocks out weak or noisey stations and you wont hear anything without ant.

My onkyo tx-v940 has very low volume. Has anyone had that issue before? How did you resolve it? Is there a reset option on this unit?

My onkyo tx-v940 has very low volume. You should
Check the voltage supply to both +B and -B voltage.
If both voltages are low, the voltage amplification via
differetial and voltage amps will be low. Finally, low
Volume due to power = VI. If V is low, so does power
Output. The negative voltage can also be measured as that of +B with black probe clamped to heat sink
by a crocodile clip.

I am not getting sound from the left speaker channels (A and B) on the onkyo tx-v940. I tested wires and switched speakers.

Hi, Are all of the left side speakers out? If they are the receiver would need to be serviced. Thank you, Onkyo USA

I have an onkyo tx-sr308 and I am receiving only static or very low music on my right speaker channel. Please help

Switch to the other set of speaker outputs (move from A to B). If it continues, you have a repair issue...assuming it happens with all inputs. If it only happens with DVD, or CD, or Tuner, or whatever, but works fine with other components, it's a connection issue - unplugging and replugging, or replacing cables may correct.

If I recall correctly, that unit doesn't have a standard twist knob style balance control. If it does, turn the unit off and rotate it through it's full range several times, then recenter it and try listening to it again.

I own a onkyo skw 980 subwoofer and it just quit. I have only had the system for a month or so. I was listening to music, not loud and the bass (sub) just stopped. No crack, pop, or blown speaker. The...

How are you sourcing the program material to the sub? This TX-V940 receiver doesn't have specific sub support.

=== Just the same...

You need to first determine which is at fault - the sub or the receiver.

Connect the Sub Input to Tape Rec on the receiver (but DO NOT select Tape) and see if the sub reacts to your playing FM, for instance. If it works you need to go back to the receiver and the unknown method you're feeding the sub.

You could also test the sub with a CD player output but use a recording that starts low because you won't have volume control.

The HDMI is not outputting to my display. I have 3 inputs and none of them work. However they did work for about 2 weeks with no problem. I can take the input directly to the display and they work...

Measure all hdmi inputs and output HPD Voltage by a needle probe.
Steps:
(1)unplug the amp.
(2)open the cover.
(3)connect a blu ray player to hdmi input & a mon to output, otherwise no 5V.
(4)negative probe connected to the large heat sink with large power transistors mounted by a crocodile clip.
(5)postive probe to right hand side last pin called hot plug detect, HPD.
(6)If it has 5V, hdmi board is OK. Check HDMI cables(7)If no 5V, check power to this board. Go to you tube:How to fix an Onkyo receiver - TX-SR606 . All large capacitors next to SMPS IC are replaced.
(8) If not OK, replace Q 8595-Q8597.
(9)If not OK, replace Q8501,sil9135.(Onkyo won't help you to replace this HDMI decoding Chip. A HDMI board replacement instead, the company policy.)
