<p>Bar code symbols are composed of a number of adjacent bars
and spaces of different widths of pre-defined codes. A barcode scanner is used
to read or scan the bar code symbol to represent the information to decode.
Once the symbol is scanned by a handheld reading device or another, can then be
used by computer software to track inventory and perform other functions.
Microsoft Excel is a computer application that use bar code information can
make the business perform. <br />
<p>1. Insert bar code scanner to your computer using the
"interface cable keyboard wedge". The keyboard wedge interface cable
looks like the printer port of your computer, and differs only in that a
connection between the scanner bar code and serial number of your computer or
USB port. The cable is provided as a peripheral pattern with hand-held bar code
scanners. <br />
<p>2. Open Microsoft Excel on your computer after the bar code
scanner connected to your computer. <br />
<p>3. Links on the Excel cell to the bar code to enter and bar
code scanning to load it into Microsoft Excel. <br />
<p>4. View the data in Excel file is translated into a vision
of the bar code information. <br />
Do you currently have hand-held inventory scanners?
Although you may not be familiar with Legacy's Technology Services, we may already be servicing your barcode scanners, barcode printers and even POS hardware. Many sellers of extended maintenance contracts have used Legacy for years to perform service on devices covered by their contracts.
Maybe you're looking for a specific hard to find part. Chances are I've got it!
We also carry refurbished equipment if you are in the market.

By Keyboard / Display unit I'm assuming your using a PC, thin client or dumb terminal. If you are using a PC then the easiest way to do this is to get a bar-code scanner with a USB interface, no programming should be required with possibly the exception being of adding a "Enter" (CR LR) after each scan.
If you have a dumb terminal then you may need to look at trying to use an RS232 connection (if one exists) or a keyboard wedge solution where the scanner is plugged into the keyboard port along with the keyboard.
In any event pin outs would vary depending upon the scanner you want to use and the device you are connecting the scanner to.
The LS2106 did not support laptop mode so the PS/2 wedge needs to have a PS/2 keyboard attached to the cable. If that does not work I would suggest trying to find a 25-31617-01 Synapse adapter cable and STI85-0200 USB Synapse cable. This would allow you to connect the scanner right to the USB port and it should work without any extra programming. I believe the cost of the two cables (if you have to purchase them new) is almost as much as a new LS1203 scanner with USB cable. At least with the new scanner you would get a three year warranty.
Keyboard Wedge Barcode Scanners are sometimes tricky because they will not operate if the keyboard is physically attached to the Scanners' "Y" cable. A possible solution would be to attach an additional keyboard to the "Y" cable and simply set it aside un-used. (This would allow you to continue to use the Wireless Keyboard; which I assume is USB). I may also be able to program the scanner to operate in a Laptop Mode which would allow you to operate successfully as-is. I would need your exact model number to investigate if this is possible.
Hope this helps! -Dave

It depends on whether you are using a keyboard wedge or a serial connection. Use 123Scan or MCL to make a change to the ADF file that tells the scanner what to do. Then you will have to upload the file to the scanner.
Appending an "Enter" to a scanned bar code (Keyboard Wedge connection)
Scanned bar code data 04843100Criteria 1 Code type = Any Criteria 2 Code Length = Any Length Action 1 Send all that remains Action 2 Send Value Keycode = 7013 <Enter> (String field must be empty)
Output after ADF rule 04843100<Enter>
Note: To have an ADF rule applied to all scanned bar codes, leave the criteria unspecified (Code Type = Any and Code Length = Any Length).
Appending a "Carriage Return Line Feed" to a scanned bar code (serial connection)
Scanned bar code data 04843100
Criteria 1 Code type = Any Criteria 2 Code Length = Any Length Action 1 Send all that remains
Action 2 Send Value String = \0D\0A
Note: Keycode value is ignored when string field is populated.
Output after ADF rule 04843100<Carriage Return Line Feed>
