Re: wireless internet conecction
This may be a stupid question. However there are three different standards that are used for Wireless communications that I currently know of A, B, and G. This device communicates using the G standard if I have researched it correctly on the web. Out of curiosity what is the model of the wireless cards that were put in desktop computers -- if they do not operate using the G standard that may be why they will not communicate. Other problems may be optional security settings such as encryption (not identified on for the computer's adapter) or MAC addresses that were not loaded into the router to permit communications.

The first thing to do is reset the router. There is a button on the router that you press with a paper clip. You will then have to access the router with your browser and a cat5 cable connection to change all the settings that you might need to change for security. DHCP should be enabled and there should not be an issue with the number of concurrent connections.
The issue is that you have to install the card and its driver ..Look on that disk ..and see if it has a driver on it ..Run the driver and install teh card ..restart the computer ..and go to network places..In there look for teh wireless connection ..That will be the card you installed .click right on it ..and select either to see networks available ..or to enable first ..It should appear in the task bar in the working programs area in the right tray ..In there click right and see the available networks..identify your router and connect to it .. In short ..this is a device like any other ..and needs a driver . to work ..after that ..you have nothing to do with the other available connections in the computer but only with the card ..You need a wireless network available ..either a router connected with your ISP ..or another network you share ..with others or a free internet hot spot ..in the area.. When the card is installed and working ..you have to access the networks from it by scanning for them ..
You may use the System restore utility on windows by going to all programs then Accessories... Open system Tools and then System Restore. You may resotre your system to an earlier time, time when you are still able to connect to your router wirelessly.
The second computer's wireless card may not have the latest wireless card driver installed or it is not enabled and working. Check Device manager to see if is is working and enabled. I suggest you install the latest wireless card driver.
Next check the wireless card configuration, it needs to have the wireless router's settings, ie SSID and encryption etc.

Before you go to your friend's, download the Watcher program from Sierra wireless onto a cd. And install it instead of the AT&T Connection MGR. For random disconnects and difficulties signing on with ATT Communications Manager download the watcher program @ http://www.sierrawireless.com/support/ copy and paste the complete link into your browser. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
You need to update the driver from device manager and make sure that you browse for the driver from your installation CD because there are times that windows install its own driver for a device liek a wireless adapter.
hope that helps........
