When you connect properly your cable TV signal cable to the TV's cable port, then you can select the Cable TV source from the Input Source button from the TV remote.

Sounds that the Tuner and Video IF section to your TV has the fault. Seek tech support. This is a highly skilled work.

LG flat-screen TV LED with Horizontal lines on bottom of TV how to repair

The horizontal lines that are showing up on your TV's screen is caused by either a bad cable or a cable that is not correctly fastened to the input and the output ports for the TV and it can cause interference then and the signal and cause horizontal or vertical lines to appear. My 55inch LG 3D smart tv is not working properly. When you turn the tv on the LG home screen comes on for a few seconds, and then the screen goes black. What is causing this

it's set to the wrong input device ? the one you currently have it pointed to has no input

also it's possible that cable plugged into current input channel has gone bad or become disconnected from it's source
Hdmi cables are unfortunately famous for this as they have no Lock device to keep them inserted into ports

most TV's nowdays shut off if not provided an input for a few minutes

LG plasma tv screen is washed in magenta

This is normally only caused by two things, 1st- if your using the RGB inputs make sure the green is securely connected or possibly a bad set of cables. 2nd- If your not using that set up then I would say you have a defective main board. Have it looked at by a servicer if you cant find anything wrong with RGB Comp input cables.
