I just moved into a rental with a Miele dishwasher approx. 7 yrs old. The dishwasher occasionally stops midcycle with an alarm and displays F11. I've had a repair man out that says the drain is working properly. I've had a plumber out who says the drain pipes are clear. When I start the unit it will drain the existing water, take in water and run for awhile. Then the unit will sound the alarm while the drain is running, I can hear the pump and the water going down the sink drain. Then at the end of the drain cycle it just stops, keeps displaying F11 and sounding the alarm. All I can do is turn it off and restart the whole cycle. Occasionally it will finish all cycles, most times it won't and we just run that first cycle a few times to pronounce the dishes clean enough. The landlord's handyman ran some sort of cleaning solution through the machine when we first moved in because the prior tenants had never cleaned the mesh drain and it was caked up. Help!
I had this problem. The manual says to restart the machine and see how it goes. The fault is intermittent. I believe it is due to the non-return ball getting stuck due to swelling of the non-return valve seal. This generates a high pressure which the machine detects as a fault.
Miele video show how to remove and replace the valve.

My non-return valve parts are heat welded together on one side. Other youtube videos show two parts. The heat weld can be broken by bending the two parts apart.
It is clear the ball is "stuck" if you try to push it up from the bottom and clear the black rubber has swelled due to water absorption which is common with black EPDM rubber over time. So I trimmed the "shoulders" off the rubber seal (marked on pics) with scissors to pinch off a little part of the edges where the ball pushes past when water flows. The ball resistance to unseating is much lower the the machine behaves like normal now.
Can't find any pics of the 05750095 part inside to see if Miele redesigned it or changed the seal material. My part 05750093.
(Pics won't upload here for some reason, despite meeting size/format requirements.) See googl photos:

To fix for longer, need to replace the non-return valve seal. The part number on the seal is 0575012. The non-return valve complete part number is listed at the Miele website:
05750095. Non-return valve for dishwashers. Protection against water flowing back into the wash cabinet; for G1xxxG6xxx.
SOURCE: doesn't run
I asked for help when the dishwasher (GE 1991) started up and then quit. Your site was useful as we found a priority list of things to check, thus saving much time and confusion. Our problem turned out to be a disconnected ground wire.
Thanks for the help. You probably saved us a couple of hundred dollars for a repairman. We intend to replace the dishwasher next year when the kitchen is renovated so the timing was important.
SOURCE: The dishwasher will start to cycle. I can hear
This is probably okay, you have clock like motions running the motor electric contacts. There needs to be a delay between some cycles or shorting will occur. The motor on some designs, for example. is reversed to pump out water. to have this work long term, a delay is inherent and not a concern.

Hi,
Here is a tip that I wrote that will help you with your dishwasher not drainingproblem...
Dishwasher Problems - Water will not drain out

Check to make sure there are no obstructions blocking the washer heads from spinning.
see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Belt, Water Pump
Although few dishwashers have a water pump
belt, if the dishwasher won't drain there might be a worn or broken
water pump belt. After removing the lower kick panel the motor can be
seen in the front, the water pump belt is on the bottom of the motor.
Drain Pump
If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain pump
might be defective. Test the pump motor with an Ohm meter. Drain pumps
are not repairable, if it's defective it will need to be replaced.
Drain Impeller
The drain impeller is attached to the pump
and pushes the water out of the dishwasher, through the drain tube and
into the garbage disposer or drain line. If the dishwasher won't drain,
the drain impeller might be broken or worn out. Replace both the
impeller and seal at the same time.
Drain Solenoid Kit
If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain
solenoid kit might need to be replaced. The drain solenoid is an
actuator that opens a flap to allow the water to drain.
Drain Valve
The drain valve can get clogged with debris
and should be cleaned out if the dishwasher won't drain. If it seems
clear of debris but won't actuate, it will need to be replaced. The
drain valve is not repairable.
Pump and Motor Assembly
If the dishwasher won't drain, the pump and
motor assembly might be defective. If the motor runs during the drain
cycle, check for a blockage in the drain line. If the motor won't run
during the drain cycle or if it just hums when it should be running, the
pump and motor assembly might need to be replaced.
Clogged or Improperly Installed Garbage Disposer
If the dishwasher won't drain and the garbage
disposer was installed recently, the installer might have forgotten to
knock out the drain plug from this disposer. All garbage disposers are
sold with a solid plug in the drain tube for situations where a
dishwasher isn't connected. However, if the dishwasher is connected, the
plug will need to be removed. If the disposer wasn't replaced recently,
remove the dishwasher drain hose from the disposer and clean out both
the fitting on the disposer and the end of the drain hose. These are the
most common places to find an obstruction if the dishwasher won't
drain.
Drain Hose
If the dishwasher won't drain the drain hose
might be clogged. Remove the drain hose from both the dishwasher and the
sink drain to clean it out. The most common place for an obstruction is
at the garbage disposer.
Check Valve
If the dishwasher won't drain the check valve
might be stuck closed. The check valve is a small plastic device which
prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If
the valve gets stuck closed, it will prevent the water from draining.
The check valve is the device that the drain hose is attached to on the
dishwasher
Check Ball
If the dishwasher won't drain the check ball
might be stuck. The check ball is a small plastic ball in the check
valve which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has
drained. If the ball gets stuck, it will prevent the water from
draining also. The check valve is the device that the drain hose is
attached to on the dishwasher.
