iPad computing become more accessable at anywhere. In the IT industry iPad becoming the safest computing device to use. The hardware and software security combination of the iPad makes it more secure and safest computing device than Macintosh or PC. Recently no remote attacks are faced by the
iPads, but the major security risk is physically losing the device.The passcode and encryption methods in iPad makes the data safe and secure.
With the use of data protection we can encrypt the e-mail messages and attachments. To enable the data protection go to Settings--> General-->Passcode Lock and then enter a four digit code twice.To make the passcode more safe tun off the Simple Passcode option on the same page then you can use longer codes. The passcodes can become more secure and strong by installing
iPhone configuration utility.
Remote wiping is also another utility to delete data on a lost iPad when it connects to the internet.If you have MobileMe account, you can set this by
enabling My iPad in Settings--> Mail,Contacts,Calendars--> MobileMe.Corporate or Business users who are using Microsoft Exchange Server or Kerio Connect can use Exchange ActiveSync support to wipe their devices. All these things are managed on the server not on the
iPad.So we will need to work with our IT administrator.
There is also availablity of secure email connection in iPad. Perfectly configured Microsoft Excange servers encrypt data by default. If you are using the IMAP or pop3 server and it supports SSL you can go to settings-->Mail,contacts, calendars-->youraccountname-->Advnace on
iPad and enable it.
If you loose your
iPad the first things you should do is change your password and deauthorize the device for any services such as
Dropbox or
iDisk that you used for connecting to it.
