Depending on how long the power was off, your desktop power supply circuit capacitors may have fully discharged during the power outage. This will effect how fast your computer will turn on when you press the power button. Turning off the power by pulling the cord, or a power outage while the computer was on will usually result in a message that Windows was not shut down down properly when you try to restart it. Also make sure your computer isn't plugged into a 'switched' receptacle that's wired to turn on a table lamp etc from a wall switch. It's usually the bottom half of the receptacle that's switched while the top plug is always 'hot' or powered and unswitched in a wall switch controlled recepacle situatation.

Try an ordinary lamp in the wall-socket -- to make sure that a circuit-breaker inside your home has not "tripped", i.e., no power to anything that plugs in.

If there is an on/off switch beside where the power-cord connects to the power-supply, switch it to the "off" ("zero") position.

Unplug the AC cord from the power-supply.

While watching the fan inside the power-supply, and/or watching the fan on top of the CPU, plug-in the AC cord. One of the fans may "twitch", if there is power.

Flip that rocker-switch to the "on" ("one") position, and see if one of the fans "twitches".
Also, look on the motherboard for a small lamp -- it may go on if the AC power-cord is connected,
or may go on when that "back" switch is set to "on".

Try a different power-supply. If still nothing, then it's your motherboard that got "fried".

Where the door closes there is a a switch you have to take off the cover (plug out device) one of these switchs are probably burnt out

In the back where the power cord comes into the unit there is a small fuse there, replace and try.......

YES THE POWER BEING SHUT OFF THEN ON WITHOUT THE LIGHT SWITCH BEING INTHE OFF POSITION BLEW YOUR LIGHT BULB. IT COULDN'T BE ANYTHING ELSE UNLESS YOUR CORD HAS A FUSE. CORDS WITHA FUSE ARE FAT AND ODDLEY SHAPED AT THE END U PLUG INTO THE LIGHT.

How old is your computer? Did you recently have a power outage or anything? Most the time if a computer won't turn on, something in it went bad OR an outlet is bad. Try this:

1. Make sure that the power switch is on, the switch in the back (on the power supply itself) is turned on, and everything along those lines is functioning.
2. If that doesn't work, and it will not power on AT ALL, make sure the cords are plugged firmly in place, including the surge protector and/or the power cord itself.
3. Try resetting the surge suppressor and/or plug the computer into a different outlet in the surge suppressor. Try other items in that surge suppressor (or even in the wall outlet, if that's what you're plugged into) to make sure that the outlet itself is working.
4. If your computer is plugged directly into a working wall or surge suppressor outlet, try a different power cord.
5. If your surge suppressor works, your wall outlet has power to it, and you are using a known-good power cord in the computer, you will have to go into more in-depth investigation as something inside the computer likely went bad. It could be the video card, motherboard, CPU fan, power button, or the power supply itself. Start by testing the video card and the power supply by (one at a time) swapping out a known-good component for the one you suspect may be bad. If it won't turn on after that, try swapping out the next and try it again. If it still will not work, it could be something more serious such as the motherboard or power button.

You do not say your location- so this may not be relevant to you. If in UK - check the power cord fuse. If it is a model that relies on an external power supply- try to find anther of the same specification. Other than that presume it has died
