Camera functions all work but wont take a photo. will take video though but not photos. worked fine last time used and sat in closet for approx. 6 months. help..
Check the settings of the camera. Put the recording mode for stills (photos) to auto, so the setting can't stop the camera from taking a picture. If you are in one of the manual modes, and the system calculates it won't be possible to make a picture (to dark, to light, or out of focus and so on) it won't react when you press the shutter release button.
Please use the manual, so you will be able to solve this every time it happens to you. The manual is still online.

This appears to be loose connector to the motherboatd from the screen.
Try gentle squeezing of the casing near the bottom of the body
This may do the trick- otheriwise it is a workshop job and frankly not worth the cost - the money would be better spent on a more uptodate camera.

CCD failed, contact fuji, they got product recall for some camera models with faulty CCD.

check the memory disc it might be full in which case it is best to save the pics onto your computer and then wipe the disc for room to take more pics.
SOURCE: Lines on photos taken with Fuji FinePix E900, but not videos?
Lines displayed on your pictures during play back seem to be a common problem with some of the models of fuji that I have repaired and all that I can suggest for a reason for this is Moisture in the lens unit. The lens unit on the Fuji E900 for example has 4 shutter leaves that decrease the amount of light that hits the sensor. Like your eye when you look at strong light. And 7 or 8 other leaves below the first 4 to control the light further. These are operated by electro magnets and guided on plastic slides. So, when moisture gets in and collects over time it seems to stick the shutter leaves together and the camera no longer controls the amount of light accurately enough and you get wierd and wonderfull paterns on your pictures. So far 4 fuji E900's and 1 E550 I have found this problem with moisture and It Isn't a quick job to fix either. But it is possible if you know what you are doing.
Hope this is of some help

I had same problem,Vista/Fuji-finepix.
Go to control panel click on Autoplay, camera is under devices probably says " take no action" with red sign.click on the bar and a drop down appears, click on import to windows or ask me first, click save and it should work fine. i uninstalled the fuji software,i assume it has issues with microsoft settings.
