I recently upgraded from my 2wire DSL to Uverse. My older laptop with the 2wire card and the home portal fins the new network but only runs at 11 mbps. Where my other laptop with the newer 2wire software runs at 54. Do I have to remove the old "Home Portal" software? Thanks,

That means the older 2wire card was a B model adapter, which can only run at 11mbps. The other laptop most likely has built in wireless or some other adapter in it that runs on the G model, which is 54 mbps. There is no way to fix this issue, other then aquiring a new wireless adapter for your older laptop.

2Wire Home Portal 1100 for AT&T DSL connection problem

HI! read your posting regarding the situation that your experiencing.. If before you dont have any problem regrding your connection with out the cisco network magic. I suggest that before you install the cisco network magic. you should get the full version not the trial version, there is a limitation of setting up the trial version.. Cisco network magic is a plug and play and easy to setup if you get the full version. I dont see any problem regarding your connection with the 2wire and the linksys router, becoz you mention earlier that hime network is working and you can connect to the network and the internet..

Lost connectivity to network printer when switched to ATT u-Verse

Is the printer connected via wireless? When I recently connected up a new wireless printer to my UVerse network, the printer manual said that establishing the first connection works better via an Ethernet cable directly to the Uverse router. After the printer is set up once, then I could remove the ethernet cable and connect to the printer via wireless from all my computers.
For all wireless PCs that were previously connected via wireless to dsl, you need to create a new network connection for each one, then enter the key that is listed on the side of your Uverse router when prompted. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to establish the connection.
I am amazed that ATT was so unhelpful on these issues. I was one of their first Uverse customers in Texas, and several times over the last years, techs would visit my house to solve a problem or hook something up, explaining to me as he went. That their helpful attitude is deteriorating is a real shame.

I AM RUNNING VISTA CAN I GET UPDATED SOFTWARE FOR MY 2WIRE PORTAL

I UPGRADED TO VISTA AND NOW I CANT GET MY 2WIRE PORTAL SOFTWARE TO INSTALL. IS THERE AN UPGRADE OR NEW SOFTWARE AVAILABLE ? ► there is no need to install the CD if ur trying to connect using an ethernet cable to the 2wire. If ur attempting a wireless connexn, u shud configure the wireless set up.

1000 SW (Model) for 2wire,Connects fine, intermittently the Broadband Link goes ORANGE and keeps me off Internet ► this is a possible line problem. Try plugging ur 2wire's phone cable directly to the phone/wall jack removing the filter or splitter in the process. Then see if the problem reoccurs. If it DOES NOT, replace ur filter with a new one. If it DOES reoccur or if it is already connected to the phone/wall jack directly, contact ur Internet service provider.

keep me posted on these...

2wire HomePortal replacement necessary?

how bout customizing the wireless settings of your 2wire first for a more stable connection. like change the wireless name from it's default and enable a wireless security. you can also change the wireless channel to minimize interference from other wireless device near your area.
if you have done that already, try to upgrade the firmware of your router to check that it's not a firmware issue.
if you have done everything to solve your concern, it's better to get a replacement.
i believe your home portal is a gateway. if so, you also need to have a gateway to replace it and a router is not sufficient.
as long as your laptop has a wireless card installed, you don't need any other equipment
hope this'll help you.

Suggested Laptop Wireless Adapter For HIGH SPEED INTERNET

I would go with card slot adapters, you can find many different ones but I used Dynex 802.11G card even running Win98, I've seen then cheap on sites like eBay. You can use acble and wireless at the same time and with 6MP, you will not notice any speed loss unless you are running live feeds on all 3 computer

Can't connect one laptop

Ok this is a simple, but difficult fix at times. I need to know if the other laptop is used in and or outside of your home? In addition I need to know if you have security like a WEP or WPA setup? Do you have a home network setup using this router/modem? I may have other questions, but these I need to know in order to give you an exact answer!
