Pin won't open my tray :( Help please?. Read more ... I was lucky to find a rubber band in my junk drawer and it ...
all trays have a little switch inside it mybe stuck on open.
you might have to take it out,,open it up and see if its stuck.
or even a bit of dirt could stop it as well.or somthing stuck in there.
There is sometimes a small hole beside the CD tray,if you straighten out a paper clip and insert into this hole the tray will come out do not leave the clip in there as the drawer will not shut again.
OK I fixed it. One of the CD's had gotten stuck between trays in the loader. I pulled out a few CD's by forcing open the trays gently. However even after removing as many cd's as possible one was still stuck. 1. Remove screws holding cover plate on in back and sides. 2. Remove cover. 3. Lift face plate latches and lift over top of unit. Remove serial cables from connectors on board. Take face plate and place aside. Remove screws from back of CD tray unit and bend back metal tab with flathead screwdriver. Lift CD unit up on one side so you can get your fingers up inside underneath and push stuck cd towards tray openings. You can gently force top few trays out. You may need to shake unit so that stuck cd reaches open end. Pull out CD. 4. Replace faceplate and connect serial cables. Plug in power cord, power on unit and make sure trays will eject normally. 5. Put it all back together!
If you look at the door of the CD/DVD tray/shelf, you should see a little hole. Stick a paper clip into the hole and it will pop out the CD/DVD tray/shelf and you can get your DVD back. I would call Gateway support to fix the rest of it. If it is still under warranty, they can send out a tech to fix it.
Open the top cover of your CD using a screw driver, (usually a star screw driver),. Then, manually turn the driving gear of the CD tray to free the stucked tray and until to the point where you can take the disc from the tray. Be careful so the setting of the tray and the laser eye is not change. Then, close the close the cover and play. You can send your e-mail thru fix ya to let me know.
In Some Cases The Button May Be Stuck In Causeing It To Keep Pushing It Open In Other Cases The Arm May Just Be Stuck To Extending The Tray Out. I Recommend Seeking A Computer Technician If You Do Not Know Anything About Computer Componants
