SOURCE: non- system disk or disk error

This means it cannot read the HDD in the machine. Have you left a disk in the CD/DVD slot or a usb drive in one of the usb ports?

You may have to insert your operating system disk in the CD/DVD drive and do a repair installation.

SOURCE: non-system disk or disk error replace and strike

You need to correct this problem in the BIOS. Sounds like the BIOS is not enabling this device you are trying to use. Reboot computer, press enter, or F1,F2 repeatedly to get there.

SOURCE: I have a Compaq nc6220 and everytime I try to boot

This sometimes comes up if you have a disc in the cd drive or a USB drive attached.
If this is not the case, your OS is damaged and you can try a system restore / recovery, you may have these options if you can get the F8 menu to come up while booting.
If you have a windows disc you could try a repair installation, if not google "fix MBR"

Turn the computer off.
Unplug its power-cord.
Connect its power-cord.
Turn the computer on, and enter "BIOS SETUP".
Check the "Boot Options", to ensure that your RAID-array is listed as one (preferably the first) of the bootable devices.

My hp laptop shows non system disk or disk error

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

My laptop model is hp compaq nx6120..Its showing the error as non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready...hw to recover this error?and also cant able to view the bios settings...

You may have a defective Motherboard (BIOS or CMOS chip to be specific). Normally, a non-system disk error can be attributed to a failing hard drive. But since you mentioned that you cannot access the system configuration, that means your BIOS is not able to see your bootable device anymore. You may need to have your computer serviced which means a motherboard replacement.
But before you send your computer to a service center, try to discharge flea power first. You may be surprised how many issues it can resolve. You can do this by removing the battery and the AC adapter of your computer. After doing this, hold the power button down for at least 5 seconds. Reconnect the components, and then try to turn your computer on. Hopefully this works so that you don't need to spend as much. The cost of a motherboard replacement would be more like replacing your whole system. Good Luck!!!

After powering on the following message appears: Non-system disk or disk error replace and trike any key when ready. Trying to press F10 or F9 when powering on doesn not give any result. Does it mean that...

First, check if you have any usb memory keys or other removable media in your system. That error used to show up when you'd leave a non-bootable floppy in your pc. If you don't have anything in your system other than your hard drive- listen. If you are hearing clicking, grinding noises- then yes, your hard drive has mechanically failed. If you don't- then the chances the drive is about to fail since the boot sector was corrupted. Try to make certain the drive is seated correctly in your system- if that doesn't help- you will need to contact the technical support for your system to get a replacement hard drive if your system is in warranty- or you can purchase one, and replace it yourself.
