Xtn series won't transmit through remote microphone

Here are a handful of problems you might be having:

1) Be certain the radio is turned OFF when plugging in an audio device.
2) Be certain the remote mic is plugged all the way in, until you feel a slight click.
3) Your accessory jack could be wobbled or worn from plugging and unplugging chargers/audio devices. If so, the radio would need repair.
4) Your remote mic is not working. Try it on another unit to confirm.
5) Or the remote mic is not the one designed to go with the XTN radio.

Best regards.

Will transmit for a while and then quit

Check RF transistor may have leakage, "probably won't show up on a regular meter, carefully inspect board for bad solder connections, buy semiconductor cold spray may help tracking faulty part.

Hello i have a yaesu ft-2900 it receives just fine but when i transmit it shows error. this radio is brandnew

Hi Gerald,

When you say you used the software to download frequencies, do you mean as in from the internet, or did you have to input frequencies via the software on your PC?

There is a difference, that's the reason I ask.

If, by using the software you manually input the frequencies, then did you input both the output and input frequencies or just output for each channel?

If the latter is true, and you are trying to access another user via a repeater, then that is the error.

Repeaters generally, require both the input frequency = the frequency you transmit on, and the output = the frequency you receive on.

Without both frequency pair, you won't be getting out, and no won can hear you, as you are basically transmitting as a simplex station on a repeater allocatted channel, hence the error message on your display.

The radio you have is used by many amateurs & CB operators, and both group utilise repeaters within their allocated spectrum, excluding 27 meg CB, which is simplex only, but with SSB included.

I hope this answers your query.

Best regards,
Peter

Cx80, what does the code "rx" mean on the display

  • TX = Transmit. RX = Receive. Does your needle move when you key the mic? Does it modulate when you talk in the mic? Do you have an inline watt/SWR meter inline? What kind of a set up do you have? Mobile? Base? Get back to me if you want further help.

Won't send out. I have replaced mike already.

if the Mic gain is up. and an antenna is connected. its possible that the transmit circuit is blown out. this is definitely the case if you have been operating the radio and the red ant lift has been lighting when you key up. that means your antenna was not tuned to the radio and your swr was too highroad. swr is standing wave ratio. basically if the antenna is not exactly the right length thenyou create a standing wave that does not leave the antenna and bounces back down the coax into the radio which destroys the transmit circuit. if when you key and there is no signal output then it is shot.

but make sure the cb pa switch is on cb.

Pc78elite won t transmit but receive is ok

Have the SWR's ever been checked on this radio when it was installed? where they over 2 or higher?

Most likely the final transmit transistor is bad from too high of an SWR.
