There was a paper that was to small and made a paper jam in our printer.

Remove all the paper from the paper tray so that nothing gets sucked up in there while you're working. Hit the cancel button a few times until the screen clears itself and goes back to the "Print", "Copy", "Scan" option screen.
On your computer, if the printer option screen is up (depending on what kind of computer you have, a small screen might pop up to tell you the print progress), hit cancel or clear on any of the lines that say "Paper jam", if there are any.
The next time you print something, only put as many pieces of paper in the feed as you need to print. This should eliminate a lot of the chance of actually getting a paper jam.
Please respond again if this didn't help. I'm not sitting in front of my own computer right now, so I might not be following the same steps that I usually take.

This can be very frustrating as you cannot find any more paper in the printer. However, from personal experience dealing with many many printers, both personal and commercial, it is usually correct if you have found paper before. Try to find ALL internal parts of the printer and look for more paper. Sometimes, you'll find new places you didn't know existed before.
After this, turn off the printer, unplug it, plug it back in, and turn the printer back on. You should have a functional printer afterwards.

Here's what you do. Take a look at the photo below.
Open the cover of the printer, where the ink cartridges are located. Behind the ink cartridges is the carriage, which is a box that moves side-to-side on a pair of rails. It's the thing that sprays the ink onto the paper.
You have to reach in with your hand and slide this thing to the center. Then, look to the very sides, left and right, for any bits of paper. If you look at the second picture, you can see my finger pointing to a small bit of paper that tore of and got jammed into the side. See the little crumpled bit of paper? It's preventing the carriage from sliding all the way to the right. You could have little bits on the right or left side. I had to reach in with needle-nose pliers to grab the paper bits out, but maybe your fingers are small enough.
Once the little bits of paper were out, I was back in business. Good luck!
