It's going to need a carb kit to fix the problem. Make sure your gas cap is venting ok, because gas expands in the summer and can force gas to pass thru carburetor and flood the cylinder then passing down into the oil. Depending on the age of your mower, the carburetor may have a gas shutoff solenoid on the bottom and this may have malfunctioned. Another is a bad float or needle valve which a carburetor kit would fix. A needle kit with bowl gasket may be all it will need. Hope this will help.

SOURCE: john deere 420 trouble starting getting gas and

The engine needs air, so be sure the air filter is clean. If it is not, replace it.

The engine needs spark. Replace the spark plug and be sure that the battery has a complete charge.

The engine needs good fuel so be sure the gas is newly purchased, not gas that has been sitting around for months.

SOURCE: John Deere LT 133. Will not move with mower in gear and clutch/brake released. A smell like hot rubber prior. Mower will engage. Thanks.

It could be that the belt jumped off the pulleys and got caught between a pulley and a belt guide,or the trans-axel seized up ,or brake was stuck while in a high gear, and burned up the belt. most likely the first reason. if it wasn't for the burning rubber smell,I would also look for a broken clutch/brake return spring .The pedal would stay down with a broken spring

You may try blowing backwards from behind the fuel filter into the gas line. Not to much air pressure though. Make sure the gas cap is off.

Firing order for my John Deere 3020 gas tractor?

Edited text with a wild guess at the maker. Make model (what it is) in all questions please.
Category moved to John Deere Tractor.

If it was working before, there is no need to worry about the firing order as that never changes. Things to look at;
Clean and correctly gapped spark plugs,
Clean gas,
Fuel filter?
and a clean carburetor, float bowl and jets.

John Deere LT 155, why is small amounts of oil dripping into the carburator air intake thru the oil breather hose connected to the intake

I have a John Deere JS30 self propelled lawn mower I had issues with it running for 15 minutes and then it stops running. Was low on oil. Added oil over the full line now it runs for 3 min and dies

Wayne, correct your oil level to full line, change your spark plug and try mower. If still acting up after a couple minutes, the Gas cap vent may be plugged, remove or loosen cap to see if mower will run longer and better. If no improvement, the carburetor is dirty and needs cleaned or rebuilt.

What is my problem with my mower oil too full and has gas in it.

Your rings on your piston cylinder provide a seal between the piston and the cylinder wall. If the rings leak, gas from the cylinder can leak into the crankcase. Plus you will lose compression. May need to take it in and have a pro look at it.

Stalling after one hour run time

Sounds to me like you need to replace the ignition coil, they will go open when they get hot and when this happens the plugs will stop fireing.

Overheating JD Model 170

Before you put it out to pasture you could try rebuilding the carburator. Its 20 years old and I bet its got dirt inside it.
The only other thing I would suggest is, when it stalls and back fires, stop and pull out the spark plug and watch the spark while you turn it over to be sure it has a good strong consistant spark. The coil might be tired.
These are my only suggestions.
I hope this helps!

I have a 8 HP Cast Iron line engine in a John Deere Mower, When it gets hot , it begins to mis fire and back-fire, with loss of power, any ideas?

Try enriching the carburator when it gets hot it leans out the fuel mix also try some fuel stablizer or a gas octane booster. Make sure timing is ok and make sure that the govenor is not bound up.
