This error is related to the ink absorber/waste ink tank located internally in the printer. Normally you would have to send your Canon to be serviced to resolve this problem, but there is a video turotial on YouTube that shows how to reset this error: Canon MP550 Ink Absorber Reset (6C10 Error Code) - YouTube

If you have used the printer over 6,500 copies then the ink pads below the cartridges will be full and need replacing all printers will stop and give a warning to this effect it can be reset using a secret menu if you have an LCD control panel use my Brother DCP-340CW solution

SOURCE: MP560 Canon Printer Error 6C10

The above suggestion worked short term, but in about a couple of hours, I'd get the same old error code again. Finally, I found a solution that worked for my MX860 on fixya.com written by "pineworks". The link is as follows: http://www.fixya.com/support/t4097826-aborber_full_error_message

Don't know if you've found an answer to this problem yet, but I had the same issue for about three months. Finally, I found a solution that worked for my MX860 on fixya.com written by "pineworks". The link is as follows: http://www.fixya.com/support/t4097826-aborber_full_error_message

For months, I've had to power off, disconnect from computer, and power on again to kick-start the printing. It was driving me crazy. So far, "pineworks" solution has been a permanent one. Been about a week and have had no problems yet.

Printer Canon PM 990 does not print, but shows error code 6C10. What can I do?

Whenever your OKI Printer shows the OKI c5300 toner sensor error on the display screen, follow out the blog carefully. It contains all the needed information to help you rectify the error. You can also connect with OKI Printer Repair Services to get completely satisfactory results.
  • Whenever this error code appears, this most prime thing that you need to do is to check whether all the blue toner levers are firmly pushed towards the back or not.
  • As you are done with it, check the sensor. Ensure whether it needs to be cleaned or not. You can find the sensor at the back of the plastic cover on the side of the drum.
  • Use a small and lint-free cloth to clean the plastic cover and the silver arm.
  • The sensor will be a very fine powder and should also be easy to remove.
  • Make sure that the sensor lever on TS1 is pushed up or not.
  • Clean the arm properly. Also, check whether the sensor lever is pushed up as it needs to be or not.
  • It is not set properly; the machine will not pick up the sensor on the drum. Push the disc up to make this Oki Canon Printer Error Code 990

MG8120 6C10 error

The error code indicates an issue with the purge unit.
This usually requires a repair\service of the unit.

first of all please turn off the unit....unplug the power cable
now remove the cartridge...manually slide the carriage assembly\ printhead back and forth
also clean the rail against which the assembly slides with a tissue ensuring that there is no ink residue on it
clean the golden contacts of the cartridges and the printhead with a cotton swab dipped in little alcohol
once these steps have been done follow the below steps as well
manually move the printhead to far left
on the far right there is a little white plastic tab that is spring loaded
just check that if its not getting jammed
push the tab towards the front of the printer
once done just turn on and check the status

in case still the issue persists and you get the same error code, then it is an issue with the purge unit.. if the unit is within warranty cover please contact Canon and get the unit serviced...if not, you need to contact a repair tech for physical replacement of the part..however, my personal suggestion is that a repair will not be cost effective

It wont print

Double check that the error isn't 6C10. I also thought I had an 8C10 error also and that's how I found your unanswered question! But I couldn't find any other internet reference to 8C10 but I did find a YouTube fix for a 6C10 error message. So I got my reading glasses and looked again. Sure enough it was a 6C10 error! I followed the instructions for the 6C10 error fix (resetting Ink Absorber Reset) and my printer is now functioning. Bonus note: My printer is a MP620 and the reset was for a MP550. Same error number though! and also same solution. By now your printer has probably crossed that printer rainbow bridge... but hopefully someone else will need your help? With my reset, I am going to run my $$$ ink cartridges out instead of maintenancing the absorber and then toss mine as well!

Hi,
This error is caused when the ink absorber has got full and needs to be replaced.
This is something you can get done by a local service centre or a Canon service centre.

Canon MP540 Error 6C10

Try keeping the paper only in the bottom tray (there's a tray in the bottom) Try pulling any paper out of the top and just close that top tray. Open up the head so that u can see the ink cartridges and turn the printer on and off and maybe it will center itself again. If it's still not working (even if lights aren't red and print head wont align in the center) try manually moving the head back and forth like 18 times so you can lubricate that rail in the back that's holding it. After that, re-turn it off and on again.
