Code reader does not come on when i hook it up to the computer to reset the computer it just does nothing like it aint getting no power to the code reader and i need to know if they are a fuse to check or an relay
If you have codes DO NOT CLEAR THEM
You will loose ALL DATA needed to find & resolve
any problems
You do not reset anything-you CLEAR DATA,Emission
Monitors,& Freeze Frame Data, that can tell you what happened
when a code or fault was set
If you clear codes, they will come back,as soon as the motor
is restarted ,or when those emission monitors run next time & do
so for a number of key cycles or until the problems are fixed
Forget Relays ever existed. They are like a plague that has spread
thought the internet
Please Google relays & learn what they are,They seldom fail &
NO Parts get replaced EVER Until a vehicles system has been
tested & a part fails a test
You DO NOT hang parts or throw parts at any vehicle
Only people with NO Vehicle knowledge do that, most folks
do that ,even some professionals at repair shops ,to the tune
of 3 Billion Dollars a year world wide in perfectly good parts
Explain in detail all of your vehicle problems
Explain what codes reader you have & what your doing
You plug it in under the dash & turn the ignition to the on
position & write down the codes, then push the up or down arrows
to see the next one
Read the codes reader manual
After that you start the vehicle & drive about 10 miles to see what happens--- with the code read still plugged in
If you could care less about fixing it ,clear the codes & see if the
same ones come back.
Once done ---you start all over at a repair shop & use professional
tools to do it correctly & find a problem
SOURCE: O2 sensor problem
I have a 97 gmc sierra .This truck is the same as the chevy ok.Its a 350 5.7 liter 4x4 Z71.I took it to auto zone which was my first mistake. They put it the scanner and said bad O2 sensor.Ok so which one is it i said. They dont know.Well there four (4) O2 sensors in this truck i hope you know that.I had to replace all four of them before i had to take it to a real shop.It seems the fuel pump i replaced a week earlier with an auto zone fuel pump was bad.Ive changed my feul pump 4 times now and have 235000 miles on still running. You need to get your fuel pressure checked. It should be 65 psi to start it and 55 psi to run it.If the pressures are good it could be a different O2 sensor or maybe the mass air flow senor. My last option would be the fuel pressure regulator because it seems to be a waste of time and money.I would get that fuel pressue checked first.Good luck.
SOURCE: 2 problems.1997 Chevy blazer, OBD2 and fuel gauge wont read
I changed the fuel pump on my 1997 chevy pu. The fuel gauge reads full all of the time. It only has 1/4 of a tank.
SOURCE: i tried to hook a obd2 code reader on and it wont
First things first. If the reader won't power up check the fuse for cigar lighter. Should be a 10 amp/yellow fuse.
SOURCE: P0303 Error code on reader. Changed all spark
Most likely it is a faulty O2 Sensor that needs to be replaced. It would be best if you took the vehicle to one of the Auto Parts stores that will read the codes for free so you can pick up the part and any special tools needed to replace it. The O2 Sensor requires a special socket to replace it.
