I am an artist and we just purchased a new laptop. We hooked up a Samsung Flat SyncMaster216BW to the lap top so that I could work from a larger screen. Unfortunately it is a wide screen and we cannot figure out how to set it so that I can view normal aspect ratio images. Everything appears stretched. My photo suite program shows my images elongated to fit the screen. I just want to see normal images. Help????? Where do I go to set it for normal size images???? You know like the TV has the option to flip between wide screen and normal. Help???? Please -- I am so frustrated. Thank you, Joanne
PS the User's Guide CD that came with the monitor is warped and won't play. Where can I find a PDF of the instruction manual.
I had the same problem with my new widescreen monitor... turns out the best setting (at least, for my specific monitor) was 1440 by 900 pixels. at this setting the desktop still stretches itself to fill the entire screen, but everything else is completely unstretched. (to adjust the screen resolution, right click anywhere on the desktop, then go to properties, then settings.)

there should be a pop up window! click on left click your mouse on "properties"! the "display properties window" should come out!
click on "settings"! adjust your "screen resolution".

In settings for the display properties window, The only screen resolutions shown are for normal screens not wide screen. The monitor shows only stretched images which makes it very difficult to work on my MS Publisher and even Word documents. Please help.
