Can my garbage disposal be fixed?

Foriegn object was caught in the disposal. We are trying to free the item (a bolt) but now water is leaking through the unit onto the floor of the cabinet. HELP!

Richard, I'm sorry to hear that you caught a bolt in your garbage disposal. I'm worried that my son might have thrown something similar down into my own. It might be time for me to call a professional who can repair it. I don't have the tools, time, or experience to try this on my own. Good luck! http://tacticalplumbingandheating.com/

Garbage disposal has small hole in main body leaking water

Replace disposal.
The disposal will rust over time, and develop leak... no repairs are possible for that problem.

How to fix a stuffed garbage disposal?

It should have come with a Allen wrench. Be sure it is off. Insert it in the bottom into the center hole. Move it back and forth several times until it frees up. Remove wrench and try, you may have to do this several times. Also be sure the unit is reset before turning on. If it does nothing nor makes nay noise it is probably tripped.

Even without it running its leaking water out of the bottom

There is a tube going sideways being held on by one bolt... renove this and remove the disposal. There is a rubber seal that goes between the tube and the disposal, re-seat or replace it.

Garbage disposal runs but will not take garbage down

can you turn it on for me? I would like to see and hear whats going on to better help diagnose, more than likely the "blade" that spins has detached from the disposal motor assembly or the "blade" my be caught/stuck in place, to resolve this issue.
Unplug the disposal(should be plugged in under the sink)Grab a bucket to place under sink to catch waterremove the sink pipe assembly+disposal (remove the disposal)the water should drain into the bucket from the sink.remove and clean the disposal trap, looking for obstructions while you do so.after cleaning and searching for obstruction, reassemble the unit as it was making sure to reinstall all washers, guards and bolts, after you reassemble the unit plug it back in and test it, if you get the same results then there may be a strong possibility the unit suffers from a defect or damage in which case you may need to replace the whole unit or just part it all depends... good luck... more question just ask
