It sounds like the device may have been damaged by a power surge. If this is the case, it will not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. If you had it attached to a surge protector that has a connected equipment warranty (and the device was still damaged), contact the manufacturer of the surge protector and tell them what has happened. They will be able to help you further.

If the router wasn't connected to a surge protector, your only option is to purchase a new router.

How check pcb after lightning strikes??

Over voltages as little as 20% greater than expected (under the right circumstances) can cause components to fail with no outward indication of failure. Other times, these same or greater voltages will obliterate a component and without the benefit of a schematic will make identifying & replacing it impossible.

Nearby lightning strikes often cause multiple components on different PCB to fail at the same time, complicating troubleshooting significantly. Faults can appear on power supply PCBs and in the RF stages along antenna / cable inputs and out to cable boxes DVD players, etc.

These are usually not fixed by DIYers without specialized test equipment and manufacturer's service manuals.

Will a nearby lightning strike cause a power board failure?

It could happen yes it would depend where the strike entered the TV. Not all lighting strikes hit on the electrical lines, on a TV they can come through the cable, as well as a antenna if you have one hooked up.

Stand by light won't come on tv wont play checked switching adaptor

If looked for loose contacts in power outlet, RC Jack, cable and connectors, you have tried using different input devices, the TV might need service.

Our electricity went out for a few minutes, and since then the TV will not turn on. The green light is flashing. We tried resetting it by pushing a pen point into the reset hole, but it does nothing. ...

Your power outage may have been caused by a nearby lightning strike, or any number of
1000 different reasons that cause power surges, brown-outs, voltage spikes, inductive loading,
and/or utility pole breaker trips and resets (this accounts for your power loss (a pole breaker trip),
followed by restoration of power (the pole breaker automatically reset) - even plain old high electrical demand causing an overload due to air conditioning demands caused by hot weather.
When the pole breaker reset, your TV caught a power surge.
Whenever a power outage occurs, quickly power off (or better, unplug) any/all computers, TVs,
etc. that are not protected by surge-protection.
As an electrician, when someone loses an item of electronics concommitant to an electrical
anomaly, its almost
always traceable to a nearby lightning strike (or the power company provided equivalent), accompanied by inadequate surge protection for
the VCR/TV/Computer/Stereo/uninsured valuable electronic item/XBOX 360/Nintendo Wii.
Surge protection can
be provided by the consumer at the power strip (a good one with builtin MOV protection and a
warranty costs $20, whereas a zero-protection 4-outlet or 6-outlet power strip will cost $4-$5).
Your electrician can provide whole-house surge protection where a whole-house MOV-based (metal oxide varistor) surge protector, or per-circuit protection can be installed with
a GFCI breaker (or better, an AFCI breaker) can be installed.
GFCI = ground fault circuit interruptor
AFCI = Arc fault circuit interruptor
Lightning protection is especially important in Florida, which is the "lightning capital of the world."
I've never found a good solution to lightning-fried electronics (random power supply components are destroyed and/or fuse blown), other than renters insurance or homeowners insurance.

Your only real hope for an economical fix is to look for a blown fuse, and replace it.

If desperate to attempt a fix on your own, you could try replacing the entire TV power supply as a module, but even this provides
no guarantee of a fix - lightning damage can extend beyond the power supply.
When traveling, I will always unplug everything before I leave (except the security system),
and also turn off the breakers to unneeded house circuits (which kills the wall switches that
control interior lighting - forcing a burglar to use their flashlight instead of interior lighting)
which is the least convenient lightning protection, but highly effective, and cheap (free).

I had a nearby lightning strike. Now I get "no

Hi
Just try with component input, and see whether it works fine. If it works fine with component input, the tuner section in your TV has got damaged. Soem Vizio sets will have dual tuner; one for analogue and the other for digital. Lighning stroke will damage the tuners first, than any other components inside a TV, because it has been alway connected to cable. Check the component video. If it also does not work, the mother board of your TV is faulty. Some type of fault will be repairable. If the fault is serious, you have to replace its main board istself. OK.

Lightning strike ac adaptor is fried

Your phone did expirence a surge that probably blew the ac adaptor which happens most of the time, u can buy one of those universal adaptors and look on the back of the old adaptor for the output voltage it will usually read between 3 and 8 volts DC.Set the universal adAptor voltage to the setting right below the voltage output on the back of the ac adaptor.

Does not power on. Q951 charred

you can look for the model and brand, look for it on the internet and see if you can have the schematic diagram, you're lucky if u can. Lightning will strike first the tuner side, if there is a red blink, the primary side may be okay in switching type regulator, just replacing the charred part may not solve the problem. look for shorted components on the secondary of the power section.
