Step1
If you're setting up the printer or changing the toner or ink cartridge for the first time, double-check the instructions to make sure that you installed the cartridge correctly and, for new printers, that you have removed all the pieces of cardboard or plastic packing material.
Step
2
Check to see whether paper is feeding from the paper tray. If it's not leaving the tray at all, try feeding a page manually (if that's an option) or using a different paper tray. Sometimes a problem with the tray can be traced to a broken spring or a piece of plastic.
Step
3
If paper is feeding from the tray but jamming in the printer, examine where the jam is occurring and then inspect the printer carefully to see if you can find what is causing the problem. A piece of paper, for instance, might be blocking the paper path.
Step
4
If paper is feeding through the printer but coming out blank, check to see whether the printer is out of toner or ink. A defective toner or ink cartridge could be the problem.

My printer X5270 has lost connection. In the properties field of the printer, under the General tab the location field is blank and under the Ports tab a check is placed by the USB...Virtual port for USB....

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/nb3gkh. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

If the problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Hello.
It sounds like a issue with the hardware inside the printer. if possible try the printer on another PC, or try another USB Cable. Sometimes the cable can appear fine but can have small breaks inside it. You can also try your current cable on another persons printer to rule out the cable.
If you can not get the printer working on another persons computer I would suggest replacing it. it is cheaper than getting a tech to fix it.

I refilled the ink cartridges then i placed them back in the printer but it does not print from the computer though i can photocopy. please help

Assuming that you were printing correctly before you replaced the cartridges, I would try disconnecting the USB cable from your machine, rebooting, and once the machine is back up - replug the USB cable. That should reestablish the connection with your printer.

Says that it offline. will do everything except print

There are only 2 reason when printer says offline.

Ist. When computer does not communicate to printer and this is happen because usb cable not plugged in from printer to computer properly or its loose. If use cable already plugged in properly and try to plug the usb cable in a different port in your computer and then restart the computer. and if you are using wireless printer and wireless connection on printer is disconnected then Run the wireless printer setup again by printer disk.

if issue still persist then follow step 2.

IInd. Go to Start>>printer and devices>>here you will have your printer>>right click on it from your mouse and left click on Use this printer online

disconnect the LPT cable, and try a usb cable, the wierd printing should stop while the cable is disconnected. I'll be willing to bet there is something trying to print or poll the printer from the computer. that is causing the random characters. check to see that there are no other printers configured g to print/connect to same LPT1 port, from an old printer installation. (thus switching to the USB cable). Be also sure to download the latest drivers for your operating system for the OKI, from OKI's website

  • At bottom right click "Factory Settings" button then "Apply"
A configuration warning popped up explaining that would be changing settings used by the driver. Click ok.

When printing from the computer a piece of paper became jammed inside the printer; this has been removed but the printer still won't print even though the USB cable is securely in place.

the printer maybe still jammed. try to turn off the printer and disconnect it from the pc.

then turn on and connect it again.

if this not work, you can reset the printer somewhere.
