Is the light on my deep freezer supposed to flash and then go out for a period of time?

One of these is a power light. It typically remains on while the freezer is in use. No light means either a blown bulb or no power. The other is associated with the thermostat. But it does NOT indicate that freezer temperature is appropriate. Flickering appears to indicate the bulbs are simply failing. The bulbs are neon, I think, and are not cheap. Some might try replacing such with LEDs. I have seen comment that the bulbs are not long lasting. www.manualslib.com has numerous danby freezer manuals but I do not know your model. Have a look.

Deep freezers are typically supposed to be at 0 Degrees (F) or slightly below, which allows food to be kept frozen for long periods of time.

have an amp draw test on your freezer the compressor could be starting to go

the owners manual will tell you but yes most do

i read the entire manual and even type in the words "quick freeze" in pdf. find space and it is not in there.

it only mentions green light and red light.
The “POWER” light (Green) indicates that the freezer is properly connected to the electrical power.
The “RUN” light (Red) will not illuminate when the unit is operating below freezing.
The “RUN” light will illuminate when the temperature inside the unit increases above freezing. Please

If the fan motor shaft is smooth with 1 flat spot the hub on the blade probably has a hex set screw that can be tightned with an allen wrench. If the fan motor shaft is threaded there should be a nut holding the blade on. Also yur motor bearings could be going bad causing vibration which damages the fan blade.

sounds like just the bulb is going bad . the neon bulb you have goes bad that way ,it flashes and blinks sometimes for years before it goes out all the way . it will not hurt anything

If this is a frost free refrigerator have the defrost timing unit checked out. It may well be sticking in the defrost position.

If the freezer is not located in an area where grease vapors are present the unit can be cleaned off using a vacuum cleaner. Then use a flash light to look through the coils. If you see dust embedded deep inside use a small air compressor to blow out the dust. Dirty condenser coils raise the pressures and temperatures in the system. Cleaning the coils and scheduling them to be clean at quarterly intervals should keep it functioning for a long time. Operating with a restricted condenser takes its tole on the compressor life span.
