I contacted Mitsubishi support. I have a HS U520 with the menu that was stuck on french. It is very likely the HS U510 is similar to the 520. At the back of the VCR, look for a "timer reset" button. Pushing the button will put you into the inital setup step and you can put the vcr into english menu mode. It works.

Try holding down the power button for 8 + seconds upon first starting the vcr. the language option will again be afforded you. see the manual.

Onscreen display is in spanish

Do you have a menu or setup button on the VCR's remote? If you press that, you'll have to look in the menu until you find the language selection. Oh, wait. If it's in Spanish, you might need a Spanish to English dictionary, too.
Well, good luck, and just ask if you need more help. I hope I gave you enough info, but the menus vary with every VCR, so I can't be too much more specific.

Language setup for Mitsubishi HS-U510 VCR

I contacted Mitsubishi support. It is very likely the 510 and the 520 are similar. I was told to look at the back of the VCR (in the middle and lower) for a "timer reset" button. Pushing it will put you into initial setup mode and you can set your VCR to english menu. It works!

Initial set up

Hi Hit the menu button, and look for the word "idioma" which means language, and select that. You should then be able to toggle back and forth between English and Spanish. You may have to look under "opciones config. vcr" which is VCR Setup to find it. Hope this helps, Good Luck!
