most all "early models: Rowe CD 100 Laserstar's
Put the slide switch in service position. Go past the errors (if any) by pressing Popular and Reset simultaneously then enter "55" the display should say "free play off" then hold down the reset key and push 9. This will toggle between "off" and "on" Toggle until the display indicates free play "on", then release the reset key and press the popular button. Put the service switch back in to the play position, The display should say "FP" however not all models display it exactly the same. If your computer's battery is good this setting will be retained. If you have to load the factory defaults for any reason OR another problem (dead battery) is causing the factory defaults to be loaded when you power on, this free play setting will be reset to "off" after power is interrupted.
If your Rowe Ami is indeed a 1974 model it will be a TI-2 or CTI-1 (chest style jukebox) this era of jukebox uses a search unit to push out selected pins on the unit A side and B side for the mechanism to search for and play.
If the search unit is pushing out the correct pins but the mechanism is not scanning to select those selections, it could be that the mechanism is skipping over the pins or it could be that the search unit is not pushing out any pins at all with the search unit motor just spinning around.
Hi Easiest way to check if its the amp. Is to disconnect the internal speakers the connect a standard hifi speaker to it .If that plays fine its not your amp If it is your amp and your on a budget and the repair could be costly. Many times ive refitted a yamaha 250 watt hifi separate amp to just the cd out cable coming out of the cd player inside machines. Easy to do and only costs around £50 for a second hand one. Instead of £300 for the original. Worked for me many times and my customers have been very happy. Hope this helps.
Ouch!
1. power OFF
2. UNplug cord at wall
3. Turn ON jukebox (w/o power cord plugged in)
4. Turn OFF jukebox
5. Plug cord into SURGE PROCTOR (not wall, not simple power strip)
6.Turn ON jukebox.
7. If it doesn't work, try once more; otherwise ... *sigh* repair/replace..
With regards to your problem with the Rowe Ami 100 cd jukebox.
Do you have a manual, if not I suggest you buy a printer manual or one on CD and refer to the Programming and Installation section.
In order for the jukebox to know about the cd's that are installed in the jukebox it has to initialize all or the changed cd's that have been replaced within the jukebox.
Put the jukebox into the Service Mode (the service mode should appear on the display)
Type 3 to select the Initialize sub menu
Type 0 and full initialize will appear on the display
Press Popular to start the initialization
Place the jukebox service switch into the normal mode
Initiazation will take around 30 minutes to complete.
