Boiling I have your programmable electric kettle.EK119B bought from Canadian Tire. On maximum setting the display shows no temperature figure and water does not boil.
I need to buy a new base where I can find itI need to buy a new base where I can find it

My new Bravetti EK119B kettle boils but fails to cut out. So does the replacement unit. These Bravetti kettles seem to have a basic design flaw which uses a sensor which looks for a temperature of 100 deg C being reached, but at 3600ft here in Calgary, water boils at around 96.5 deg C. Thus the sensor never reaches the cutout temperature, so it would, presumably, only cut out once it runs dry!My new Bravetti EK119B kettle boils but fails to cut out. So does the replacement unit. The same thing happened to my kettle in Oshawa...no elevation problem here. Took the kettle back for replacement and same thing happened after first boil...Returning kettle for refund and will think very seriously about buying Bravetti products in the future. The same thing happened to my kettle in Oshawa...no elevation problem here. The water sensor temperature is not accurate. Example: With knob button, you fix it at 80 degrees and when the kettle stop to hold temperature, I mesure 65 degrees with two others independantes thermometers. It's a real problem when you use it to make green tea that require a accurate water temperature. I'll bring back to Canadian Tire store right now ! At 90 $ it's not acceptable.

My Bravetti Kettle model EK119B does not come to a roiling boil. It shuts off as soon as it starts to bubble. Is this kettle defective? Or is this just the way they were made?My Bravetti Kettle model EK119B does not come to a roiling boil. It shuts off as soon as it starts to bubble. Is this kettle defective? ANSWER - To get into "CAL" mode is as follows: REMOVE BATTERY. Wait a few seconds, press trigger and hold trigger while you reconnect battery. (THE display will look a bit odd with vertical line thru the right most character.) RELEASE trigger and it will display 50C ( sorry i did this in celsius) Press trigger again and it will show "CAL". Press again and it will show 100C (212F) (boiling point of water) AIM at boiling water and water you know is at 21 F -press trigger, it will show CAL. press 2 more times till display reads 0C . AIM at ICEWATER BATH (I put a black piece of electrical tape inside the glasses BTW to get a better target. NOW... uncharted territory..... If you keep going it prompts for higher and higher temps eg 200C 300C etc.. So as to not undue the 2 calibrations I did at boiling point and freezing point I at this point just switched it from C to F and Back again.. This seemed to end the calibration. It works well now.
Hi Naomi,
please check the manual.and see if it is has a small hole or opening in kettle to go to outside of steam.
your one must be blocked .
regards.

Some types of kettles use a separate power base to heat up the kettle jug. If this is the case with yours, turn the jug upside down and look. Also look at the parts on the base that touch the kettle jug contacts. If you can see the electrical contacts; mine were built on spiral rings for differing temperatures; try cleaning them with Brasso and a Q-tip (cotton swab) wiping the contacts several times to remove any tarnish and then use clean swabs to remove all traces of Brasso metal cleaner. Fill the kettle jug up to the maximum fill line and put the boiler on the maximum setting... boiling water. If the water doesn't boil... you have a more serious problem. Buy a new boiler as it isn't worth having someone fix it. Mine worked like new after I cleaned the contacts. Never immerse the jug contacts in water!!!
Ur thermal fuse just got BLOWN, if u have a knowledge to repalce it, u could buy the parts in any electronic shop. Just be sure u have the same temperature value!
To state the obvious, the steam sensor has failed. Unless you are quite adventurous, and confident dealing with electrics, there's nothing for it but to get a new kettle (unless the kettle is still within warranty, in which case you should be entitled to a replacement of course).
I had a similar failure with my Braun WK600. Switch it on and the lights flicker and go out
before it boils. Took it apart (Tamper Proof TORX, available from
Snap-On, Canadian Tire, probably most auto parts places that also sell
tools). The On-Off switch has a mechanical lock out for the lid being
open and also for when it is not mounted on the base. The kettle also
has three bi-metallic temperature switches. One shuts off the kettle
after it has boiled long enough. The other two sit up against the
element assembly adjacent to each end of the heating element. They
protect against boiling an empty kettle by sensing the higher element
temperture when there is no water to conduct away the heat. In the case
where the lights flicker and go out, but the switch stays 'On' these
are the likely culprit. In my kettle the contacts did not line up
correctly. Instead of making good contact they were only partially
overlapping like a couple of the olympic rings or a couple of rings
from the Audi logo. This resulted in a localized increased resistance
and high heat in one of the contact holders which eventually melted the
surrounding plastic. At that point the wires going to the element
behaved a bit like springs which forced the contact holder further out
of alignment until it all became hot enough to trigger the thermal
switch. I fixed it by bending the contact holder, which is fused
into the now hardened plastic, to the optimal position and hopefully it
will not generate enough heat to remelt the plastic or trip the thermal
switch. I have boiled a couple of kettleful's; so far so good!
Oh, and if you take your kettle apart and your house burns down it is not my fault.

What ticks me off about this is that I don't mind getting 'Made In China' ****; everything comes from China anyway. But don't charge me a ridiculous amount of money and try to pretend that I am getting a superiour product. If I had paid twenty dollars or less for it I would just chuck it and get the same one again because it looks nice, pours well, doesn't burn the hands, worked OK for couple of years, etc. Instead I walk away from this feeling really ripped off. I have a house full of Braun products(shaver, kettle multiple tooth brushes) but now I won't buy any more.
Oh and if you take your kettle apart and your house burns down it is not my fault. There, now I feel better.

I plug the thing in and get "EE" displayed, no boiling, no nothin'!
