Brake must be depressed to put car in gear. Sounds like the switch that tells car that brake has been depressed has broken. Change that switch and car should go into gear.

Many of these require that you apply brake n order to put it into gear. Fuse probably is in circuit for brake pedal to let control unit know you have foot on brake. It is likely that the in-line fuse holder has broken (quite common) and thus the fuse fell out. Remove any under dash panels as needed to be able to see into this area, and you should find a wire with a part of broken fuse holder attached. Find the two ends and splice in a new fuse holder and fuse=fixed!

check to see if brake lights work when you press pedal. You need that to work for your car to come out of Park.

2005 jeep liberty brake lights don't work, none of them but fuses and brake light switch are good.

maybe brake light switch located near your brake petal needs adjusting...its simply a push button that the brake petal hits as the brake petal is depressed usually u can just pull on them toward you and they'll "self-adjust" after pressing on brake petal...push on brake petal with ur hand and make sure this button is depressed while the pedal is down...

My brake lights are staying on and drained my battery!!!! could it be a fuse??

the fact that you have lights means your fuse is good-lights all the time means your brake switch (located above the brake petal) is hung up or stuck. You need to get down low enough to see it, under the dash and immediately above the brake petal-as you push the petal with your hand, you will see it attached to the brake linkage-for some reason, it is always 'closed' which causes the lights to stay on, even with the key off (safety reasons, this circuit is always hot). you should be able to 'unstick' it by manipulating it, or you can spray a light coating of wd40 on the assembly to sree it up. Worst case, you will need to replace it, the usually run under $20.

Car wont start due to safety switch

It is the fuel pump inertia switch. Located in the trunk usually behind the rear passenger side tire well under the trunk liner. Just push it in and you should be ready to go.

Reverse lights not working

When you press the brake petal it activates a switch located under your dash. Just follow your brake petal up until you see something that compresses when you apply the brakes. It is possible that the switch is not lined up or needs to be replaced.
