In playback mode, the screen is showing a distorted image. The content is there, but is in vertical sections on the screen...like a portion of the middle part or a portion of the right side. Any suggestions on how this can be corrected?

This is a defect in the CCD ( light sensor ) - check with Canon and they'll replace it free of charge even if the camcorder is out of warranty.

SOURCE: cannot finalize dvd-r
Have solved the finalized problem by simply looking on the Canon website and read that you have to plug the camera into the wall to do it! If only they simply put this in the manual!!! Goodluck!

You need to check the what format are is used by the can coder if in the audio mode you cannot see the video , or the tape may copyright protected...................To trouble shoot use this link to get the manual:

It is a manufacturing defect in a chip. Canon is replacing it irrespective of warranty. See below URL:
