SOURCE: Having upgraded to 2gb ram on advent 5421 laptop,

Just make sure it is an original ram and it must also be the right one. Of course it should boot with 2GB. Also insert the ram properply.

SOURCE: upgraded ram 1gb wont boot hp 510 mobo 30C4

If you added another 512Mb RAM to increase the RAM to 1Gb then the new 512Mb memory stick could be incompatible with the original 512Mb or it could be faulty.
Use RAM that is same make and speed as the original RAM.
Remove both RAM and just insert the new 512Mb into your laptop and see if the laptop boots up, if not then the RAM could be faulty.

Fujitsu v700 4 gb memory will not boot

You don't say if the Notebook is 32 or 64 bit.
If its 32 you may have a problem uprating the RAM more than be handled.

My Packard Bell ipower PC is 3 years old and was supplied with 2GB RAM but now says 1GB in system properties - also says "new hardware detected" - has 1GB of the RAM stopped working?

> has 1GB of the RAM stopped working?

Yes, or that 1GB stick of RAM is not "seated" properly into its slot.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power cord.
Remove one stick of RAM.
Reconnect the AC power.
Start the computer, and see if reports "zero" RAM or "1GB" of RAM.

Repeat with the other stick of RAM.

> "new hardware detected"

That's a quite-different problem -- changing RAM does _NOT_ cause this message.

Need to know what type of RAM my MD 1921 has so I can upgrade.

Hi KF27,

Your system has and supports PC SODIMM DDR RAM with a MAX support of 1GB. You currently have 512MB of RAM (2x 256MB), so your only option is 2x 512MB of RAM..

I hope this helps you out!
