Memory Card saying "Disk Not Formatted"

My PS2 Memory card is saying "disk not formatted" when you fire it up. This is a card my son has been using for a long time. It has about 30 games on it, a lot of data. I know that if I format the card as it is asking me to do, all data is lost. I am afraid that all data is lost anyway. Is there ANY way that I can save this card? My son is 9 and there is alot of game play on that card.

Hi

This is only a chance in getting it to work. Get some alcohol and use a butter knife and papertowel to clean the contacts on the memory card. Also get some Air in a Can from Radio shack, and blow out the Memory card slot on the console. You miight even try to check it out on another PS2.

Reformatting my memory card

Okay, Formatting anything erases all data from the device itself. You might try to purchase a software that can return it to it's state prior to formatting, but there is no guarantee.

Reformatting my PS2 Memory Card

Your memory card needs to be replaced. Using the AR Max Evo to format your Memory card can sometimes leave bits of information that cannot be removed, and also deletes the firmware of the card that allows the PS2 to read it.

There is no way for you to fix it, unless you exploiting the card with Free_MCBoot. It'll reformat the card if it detects it, and allow you to install the exploit on the card.

For legal reasons, I cannot tell you where to obtain the files.

Xo vision dvd player/receiver 1906 wont read my usb or SD disk.

Consult the manual, it should probably say something about external media.

Check what kind of disk format is supported by your player - some players will recognize an external usb disk (or a usb memory stick) only if it's formatted in FAT32 file system.

Note that if you format the disk on a Windows machine, it will only do it on drives with a relatively small capacity (i think it's up to 32 GigaBytes), but other operating systems (like MAC OS) can perform a FAT32 format even on drives with far greater capacity.

As for the SD disk (did you mean a SD memory card?), see what the manual says about the format type, have the card (disk) formatted in the supported format and see if that works, otherwise you might want to try other brands of SD cards - my friend has an Avia (not Aiwa) dvd player with a usb port and a SD card slot and it simply won't accept some brands or models of SD cards, but will work well with others and it also works well with USB disks and USB memory sticks formatted in FAT32 file system.

That's about all i could suggest, i hope you can get it to work.
