Even though it is a wireless connection sometimes you need to connect it to the printer to set up the wireless function. then follow the instructions for setting up the printer.
Your Compaq V2000 has an Intel Pro Wireless 2200 BG wireles adapter. (doesn't support N, but that's not the point I think)
If your new network configuration is based on WPA/WPA2 encyption, this adapter has some known problems to establish a connection. It works great with WEP, but not so well with WPA. Sometimes the issue can be solved by installing the latest versions of drivers and software for the wireless adapter. If it still doesn't work, a known workaround is to disable via device manager all other network adapters in the computer (ethernet adapter), leaving active only the Intel Pro 2200 wireless adapter.
On the last Compaq laptop I had, there was a touch sensitive strip running along the top above the keyboard, with controls for things like speaker volume. And there was also a picture of a little radio tower with enlarging waves emanating from it, that is to turn the wifi on and off.
change the security settings if any in the wireless router....
use 64bitWEP password for the router and if it is a BELKIN wireless router then WiFi protected setup should be disabled in the roter....
contact router's technical support to do settings in it....
I have just checked the specs of your laptop and it says that these come standard with a wireless network card.
What problem are you having in regards to wireless?
Some laptops have a switch (generally on the front or sides) that needs to be activated before the wireless card is "enabled" in the operating system. You will need to refer to the owners manual for the location of this switch.
The easyest way would be to buy a USB wireless adapter. You just plug it in install the software and thats it.
I'm useing a TPLINK USB adapter, it cost me 20 €
You can also use a internal card, Mini pci most likely. very simple to install also but you might have signal - antenna problems. But this tplink has worked very well in my home and in the city.
try disconnect power then remove battery,plug power back in and try to boot.if nothing happens put battery back in and see if it charges.if it does leave to charge for a while,try to boot if it dont boot you know its neither the power or battery and shouldnt cost too much to repair(probably a capacitor dead , possibly transistor blown diodes only allow electricity to travel in one dirrection so only break if shock(drop or bang hard) resisters have about a 100yr life.
