Most cable boxes do not allow for an audio or video input to the box. Which box is yours?

If you are not getting any audio through the laptop without the hdmi cable check that the volume control has not been turned down on either the laptop or on the windows volume control icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. Sometimes the easy solutions are the hardest to find.

SOURCE: Hdmi Port .

If the laptop has no HDMI port, the forget the whole HDMI thing cause getting it through that port when the laptop or desktop is not made for it will end up costing as much as a new computer altogether. You need to find out if the laptop has any Composite or Component outputs. Those are relatively easy to spot. a Composite output is usually a RCA jack and also usually colored yellow, and goes into the yellow RCA port on your TV next to the red and white RCA ports which are the left and right sound channels. The Component outputs are also RCA jacks, but are usually red green and blue cause each wire sends its own color to make up the TV's image. They will also go on the back of your TV near all the other RCA ports. Wether your TV has just HDMI and no other porte or not, or if it has either Composite or Component inputs or both, that i don't know cause i don't know what your TV is. As for the sound, if you also want it on the TV, you just need to go to the local electronics store and buy an adapter/wire that goes from a 1/8 stereo headphone jack to 2 RCA jacks on the other side, one being white and the other being red. See where i'm going with that?:P Plug the 2 RCA jacks from the wire you bought into the TV in the corresponding inputs that go with the input you plugged the image in, and the 1/8 stereo jack into the headphone output of your laptop.

What kind of wire do I need to connect my samsung laptop to panasonic viera hd 3d plasma tv?

Most TVs will have HDMI and RCA component and composite jacks. Some TVs will also have a VGA port. Your laptop will have a VGA port. (If the laptop is fairly new, it may also have an HDMI port.)

Not all TVs will support an HDMI signal from a computer, so the VGA signal is often better. However, that limits you to SD (anything with HDCP will fail.)

Very few TVs ship with the HDMI or component cables. However, there are some vendors who do package the HDMI cable with their TV. Without knowing which exact model of TV and laptop, I can only make a few suggestions. I know that the TCP42ST30 (Plasma 42") doesn't have a VGA port.

Look at your laptop for any external monitor port. VGA ports are generally blue female ports with 15 holes (D-Sub). If your TV has a matching VGA port, get a standard VGA monitor cable.

If you have the VGA port on the laptop but not on the TV, you can try a converting from VGA to HDMI. (You may need a DVI to VGA adapter and either a DVI to HDMI cable or a DVI to HDMI adapter.) Note: this gives an analog signal (RGB format) to the TV. You'll also need to make sure that your VGA port is active (in the BIOS for some computers) and then set your computer to send the signal to the external monitor. It is best to turn off both the computer and the TV before connecting the two. Then turn on the TV and set it to the correct input before turning on the computer. (In Windows 7, I set the video signal for the external monitor by right clicking on the desktop and selecting Graphics Properties. Set the signal to the external monitor and click Apply. Then click OK (in the external monitor's screen).)

If this doesn't work, you need a VGA to component video converter. (Not a VGA to component video cable - those are for projectors that read the RGB signal.) See http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/video-converters/vga-rgb-hv-to-component-video/c10000-c11200-c11215-p1.html .

Some laptops come with an HDMI, mini-HDMI or a DisplayPort option. For the latter two, you will need the appropriate cable with that end and the HDMI connector on the other. Then connect the TV and the computer as described above. (Note: my TVs accept a computer signal at the HDMI port labeled HDMI/DVI. However, you need to make sure that your TV understands this signal. It isn't the same format as that from a set-top box. My laptop has VGA and HDMI out; the desktops have VGA, DVI and HDMI (on one).)

If you add a comment with the model of your TV and laptop, I'll be glad to give you more specific options to connect the TV and the computer.

I hope this helps.

WHAT TYPE OF CABLE DO I NEED TO CONNECT HP NC6400 LAPTOP TO HD TV TO WATCH MOVIE ON TV FROM LAPTOP? VGA TO HDMI CABLE? THANKS

Hi.

The best way is to get a s-video converter to connect your round s-video computer output to your HDMI port on your tv. This is the best you can do according to your laptop connections. You will need a s-video cable, HDMI upscale converter box and HDMI cable.

The other way is to plug a VGA cable to your tv VGA port if you have one.

VGA to HDMI is also possible with a converter. A standard VGA cable with a HDMI plug on the other side will not work because your computer sends out an analog video signal and HDMI is digital only.

Hope it helps!

How to get hdmi

Im not sure i understand your question, HDMI is a kind of cable that transfers video aswell as audio in very high quality between devices. For a device to be able to use an HDMI cable it needs to have HDMI ports on both devices. HDMI cables are common for connecting:
desktops/laptops -> tv
tv -> desktop/laptop
surround sound -> TV
satellite box -> TV
media player box -> TV
and of course:
TV -> TV.

HDMI cables can be found at basically every electronic store or department store that sells electronics. They can also be found fairly cheaply over the internet.

Panasonic home theater

switch the HDMI cable to another HDMI port (if available).
or use and AVI/COMPONENT to make sure the device (HOME THEATHER) is working fine.
Try also another HDMI cable or hook another device into it to see how it works.
If you determine the HDMI port in not working properly, then your Mainboard is damaged and need to be replaced, try EBAY for a general picture of prices but you will need your product code wich is located in the back of the TV next to serial number.

How can i get the surround sound to work.

You need to get an HDMI cable going from your Cable Box to the Surround Sound system. If you are low on HDMI ports, you can RGB cables for Video.

Your quote: " I have a HDMI cable plugged into the TV and the Cable box." move that cable to Surround Sound and Cable Box, and use RGB cable or HDMI to go from Cable box to TV!

If your Surround Sound has no HDMI, use a Fibre Optic to go Cable to Surround. It will work Great!

Good Luck!
