Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer2_bing.gif and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Fridge and freezer not receiving cool air and coils froze up.

sounds like your compressor has gone, if the compressor isn't running then the unit won't freeze or get cold. if you mean the condenser fan? then replace it!

How do i get my condenser fan to stop running. it is cooling fine but won't shut off unless i shut it off.

Are you sure its the condenser fan? The fan is attached to the compressor power and wont run unless the compressor is running. On the other hand the fans inside the cooler will run 24/7 and are designed for continuous duty. If someone has worked on the compressor wiring you may have to re establish the wiring following the wiring diagram. I have seen condenser fans wired in hot areas to run continuously to attempt to cool down a hot compressor or compensate for a worn out or damaged condenser that doesn't get rid of the heat from the system. If that is the case a new condensing unit is probably in your future. Hope this helps good luck.

Freezer cuts on every 3-4 minutes. stays on 8-10 seconds. some thawing occuring

If I understand you correctly the compressor is short cycling. The more it does this the worse it gets by causing the compressor to overheat. Sometimes the problem is because the condenser fan or evaporator fan being defective. Pull away from wall and remove cover over compressor unplug and feel top of compressor and if too hot to keep hand there keep unplugged but do examine the evaporator and condenser fan to eliminate them as a reason. The most likely reason is start relay and or start/run capacitor and sometimes a worn out compressor.

Parts in that photo are marked as 10 overload/relay, 11 is the run capacitor and 3 being condenser fan motor. Condenser and evaporator fan motors do not always stop completely when bad so make sure both run while compressor is running. Just had the condenser fan motor replaced on my 550 sub zero refrigerator. I forgot to asked the serviceperson the following questions: Does the fan continously stay on and what is the normal sound of...

Good day,
On models with 2 compressors the condenser fan motor runs 24/7. It must since the compressors run randomly and that motor must be on since it handles both units.

Fan noise is subjective. It itself makes little noise but the blade does. If for example the blade was changed from the nylon style to a metal blade (good idea) then it would be somewhat louder.
If the noise is not objectionable then I would use it as is.

Refrigerator is not cooling

Dirty condenser, condenser fan or evaporator fan motor are not running, Ice build up on evaporator and restricted the air flow. If compressor, condenser fan and evaporator fan motor are running but not cooling, then either compressor or sealed system problem.

Freezer fan runs for hours

When compressor cycles off, your freezer fan should shut off as well !

Freezer fan should not be spinning while compressor off.

You might need a control board replacement, that controls fan.

If you are talking about compressor run time, that is a bit excessive, usual causes are dirty condensers but you say they are clean - are your condensers at the bottom of the unit ? If so make sure the condenser fan next to the compressor is running too, blowing air ont he condenser.

Where can I get a wiring diagram for an under-counter Beverage-Air cooler. The condenser runs then stops after a few seconds. Figuring a bad relay? The power runs but the condenser kicks off immediately...

If it's the condenser fan you are talking about you will not need a wiring diagram. The fan should be wired to the compressor and the thermostat. the thermostat is the relay to start the fans and compressor. I will continue to look for a wiring diagram. When the fan wears out they will stop causing the cooler to overheat. I think replacing the fan would be what you need. I believe that Beverage Air used the Copeland compressor with the condenser fan mounted on the one end of the the same slide in compressor. Check your voltage on the 2 wires going to the fan. When compressor is on the fan should also be running. I just have the feeling that condenser fan is defective.

Fan running but compressor is not

which fan is running? evaporator fan or condenser fan?

if the condenser fan is running and the compressor is not, try to feel the compressor if it is VERY hot,
( use caution please)

if it is very hot, unplug the unit, put some wet rags on top of the compressor and let it cool for a while.

after 4 hours, try it again, plug it back and observe the compressor if it would run,

let me know what happen,

tnx 4 using fixya,
