SOURCE: Printing Black Smudges

You could print a few more out and see if it goes away.

Check the drum and see if there are any black marks on it. If there is, it could be a scratched drum or the cleaning blade isn't working in it anymore.

Is this a new toner cartridge?

Be careful when you look at the drum at it to keep the light out of it as much as possible.

Where did it jam at?

SOURCE: black ink smudges for color print mode only, not for grayscale

- Try to reallign the cartridge, run a print test, after that if the issue still persist - uninstall and reinstall software - run test and re-allign again the cardtridge using software. run print test again.

SOURCE: Ink smudges on printed page.

I had the same problem when i refilled my cartridge. All I did to solve it was this: I removed the cartridge from the printer and cleaned the green cylinder with a very soft cloth. There is a cogwheel on both sides of the cylinder, so you can move the cylinder by turning the cogwheel. On my cartridge there were a few, hard ink-spots, i had to rub a little to wipe them off. When I removed them, the problem was solved.

SOURCE: Samsung scx5315f printing black smudge along edge of page

The fact that it's printing anything suggests that it is not a Toner problem. Remove the toner, and have a look at the run inside the printer, checking for any excess toner which is in there. Also, check the Drum and Imaging Unit for damage, wear and tear etc. There will also be a static strip near the imager, with a little tab which you can sweep across the unit to clean it.

Smudge line on side of page

Smudges are most likely from the toner cartridge. If you can take your finger and run over the print and it smudges, then it is the fuser.

5x7 inch paper moves towards end of print and black ink smudges edge of paper

Check for any small paper jam. Check the rollers, also use an alcohol swab to clean the rollers and check for ink leaking. Check you ink pad, it could be time for a new one.

I have a Canon Imagerunner 1023if and have black smudges along the left edge of paper, both copies and printed directly from computer.

this is possibly a problem in the fuseing part of your machine, where the paper heats up at the back, the fuser roller could be worn out. and your toner could be sticking to it.

Use a hp deskjet 35200(3500). when unit is printing all lines are blurd and paper gets black streaks all over. The printing is unreadable and smudged. Is there a manner to clean this up?

Streaks:Cleaning interior

Start a print from tray 1/manual feed and just as the trailing edge of paper is entering the machine; quickly open it to stop print and take out the cartridge and look at it

I'm trying to print wedding invitations on my Canon MP460. I'm using a cardstock thickness of paper and have set the ink levels for "Other Photo Paper" on my Mac. The paper has been going through...

Sounds like the ink isn't having time to dry and is rubbing along paper.

Paper may be too thick. If it prints OK on normal paper (test first) but not on thick card, then it doesn't support thick paper settings.

Printing has smudge on edge

If it is right along the edge then the drum (well the cleaning blade of the drum) is faulty. In a unit like that I suspect it is all part of a toner cartridge. Try replacing that and I think you will be good.

Black smudges on printed page

Are you sure this is a Designjet 450 (large format printer) and not a Deskjet 450 (portable printer)? The following assumes you have wispy black streaking on the printed side of the paper. If the streaking is on the back side then post more details of the printer model and the issue.

In either case the most likely cause is a buildup of fibers on the underside of the printheads or carriage, causing wisps of black ink to be dragged on the paper when the carriage reverses direction. You can clean the printer as shown at the following (though the details will be somewhat different for the Designjet or Deskjet....).

Black smudge streaks on rightside of printed/copied material

Can only be two things the drum or the fuser. More than likely drum they last about 4 toners i think.

Learn the art of getting a page to stop halfway threw printing, you want to stop the page after the drum has put a image on the paper but before paper has gone threw the fuser (hotbit).

Once you have mastered the position correctly by stopping the printing by opening the door and removing drum/toner cartridge, to reveal the paper that is printed but can be rubbed off, we will know if marks are coming from the drum (you will see them) or from the fuser, if print is fine.
