If you replace your laptop, you will need to also replace the McAfee software as each computer is recognized separately with McAfee products. Go to the McAfee site, log in, and download your purchased product. Sometimes, you will also need to deactivate your Firewall before installing the new product as it will interfere with the installation. Your purchased products and keys will show up in your account with McAfee. Hope this helps.

Grace Digital Mondo Wifi radio - plugged in, found my wifi connection, but when I enter my WEP Key, it just cirlces back to :Enter WEP Key. No errors received, just doesn't recognize my WEP K

Hi
You say that the radio keeps demanding the WEP key for your WiFi connection. WEP is just one of several security types to be used for WiFi. The fact that the radio is asking for a WEP key indicates to me that your WiFi is more than likely set to one of the other security standards such as WPA, WPA2-PSK etc etc etc. If this is the case your laptop and kindle etc will be using the same security standard as your WiFi router. To find out which security standard is being used in Windows 7, on your laptop, click on the active connection in the system tray to bring up the list of available connections and then click on "Open Network and Sharing Centre". When the Network Centre page comes up double click on the "Wireless Connection".
A status box will come up and about half way down is a utton "Wireless Properties". Click on this, and in the box that comes up click on the security tab and it will tell you the security type, the encryption type and the wireless key (click on "Show characters").
If the encryption type is not WEP then the radio will not connect to your WiFi, and the radio settings for Security and encryption need to be set to the same as on the laptop for it to connect.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Security key does not work

Network security key
Some later model wireless routers have the Password (ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router and this information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adapters in your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit your requirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorized access. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cable from your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computer and enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login and password and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID and Encryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 to generate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to 63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born in January 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop, configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptops can communicate with your wireless router.

The wifi on my nintendo ds lite doesn't work even though i changed the settings to WEP ..i dont know if the wep key i type in on my DS is wrong because when i type in the wep key shown on the netgear...

Welcome to Fixya

First you need to check is if the WEP key that you are entering is the WEP key of your router. Try to connect a laptop to your computer which do not belong to the network. Say, your friends laptop. This laptop will ask for a security key if it's the first time to connect to the network. Enter your security key and see if the laptop can connect to the network. If it did not connect then the problem is your WEP key.

Have a good one!

My roommates laptop is connecting to the internet, mine won't

Sometimes the key length would change for security purposes. What you have to make sure is that you are entering the correct network key.
Use a connected computer like your roommates laptop or hardwired connect you laptop to the router using an ethernet cable to access the setup page of the router.

In your browser's address bar, type 192.168.1.1. By default, leave the username blank, password is admin.
Go to Wireless -> Wireless security.
You will see the network key. Just copy that and enter it on your laptop.
I hope this helps!
