When I want to put in a Question mark in a sentance, I get that funny little red E that is on the same key.

You have the wrong keyboard selected for your computer. This can happen based off where you purchased the computer. The installed keyboard profile is wrong. Do this below:

Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languages > Change Keyboards to the one for your correct language

I get the wrong symbol when typing on my new dell

Hold-down the ALT GR ("alternate graphic") key, to the right of the space-bar, and press the '2' key, release the ALT GR key, and you should get '@'.

Keyboard layout, can't find backslash

It's there, somewhere.

Look carefully in each "corner" of the keyboard (top-left, top-right,
bottom-left, bottom-right).

If your keyboard has an ALT GR ("Alternate Graphic") key,
and some keys have *MORE* than *TWO* labels, e.g., Euro & Dollar & '4', then hold-down the ALT GR key, touch the '4' key, and release the ALT GR key.

ASUS 901XP. Keyboard. Right arrow does not function correctly

Perhaps you can check your manual. Many notebook keys do not function as expected. If you do not have the manual, you may download one here:

I CANNOT TYPE IN THE SYMBOL @ ON ASUS KEYBOARD 1000H

Your keyboard has a factory setting to US as default. You can confirm this by pressing shift and 2 and you will get the @ sign. If I am correct, then you will have to go to the control panel and change the region /language etc. US default is common as all manufacturers expect purchasers to personalise their gadgets when they get them home. I hope this solves it for you.
