Frequent out of balance problem

All front-load washing machines have shock absorbers that are used to dampen the tub movement in the spin cycle. The shock absorbers or struts are attached to the base frame and to the outer tub and you will need to remove the front panel or the rear panel to access them. When shock absorbers weaken or become damaged, the machine will often make a loud banging sound during the spin cycle and if the symptom is not corrected, can lead to damage of other components. Inspect the shocks for signs of broken attachments, leaked fluids or a weakened dampening action and replace both shocks if worn. Remove power from the appliance before attempting this repair.

Hi, The struts (dampers) should be linked to the tub from the bottom of the machine (attached) at a slight angle, I have drawn a quick picture to show you what should represent the correct alignment, the struts are in grey and fixed to the places in black.

I have a kenmore 44102 front load that fills ,drains but will not spin ,took the belt off to se if the motor spins , it doent but hums is it cooked?also the shock are broken would this cause it?

Your motor is done. The shocks could not be holding up the tub and making motor rub causing it to burn out. So fix the struts and the motor and check the tub to see if it is spinning freely.

On a neptune washer how often do the struts go bad? The machine is constantly out of balance. Drum seems very loose. UC error code. Machine is apart top and front are off. Strut system seems like a joke...

Why do you feel it's a strut problem? If you push down on the right front and left front struts and release does the wash tub return to level setting?

If so and since you have the front cover off (you are troubleshooting in the right direction) see if this post will help resolve a very common issue with the FAV6800A/FAV9800A machines; Clutch Fix ............D*ick

Bangs around when spinning

You most likely have a broken strut, or two. These are located in the bottom of the washer and can be inspected / accessed by removing the screws from the bottom of the front panel. The front access panel is seamed below the door trim and when the screws are removed you will have to pull the bottom of the panel forward slightly and allow it to drop down. The struts are a little tricky to replace and are usually held in with dowel like pins both to the tub and the base of the machine. The pins have a locking tab that will need to be pressed in to allow you to slide them out. You may have to tap them lightly with a hammer to get them to pop out after you press the tab in and start sliding them out of position.
DO NOT run the washer until you have replaced the struts as you may crack the outer tub and have a huge repair expense on your hands.
Good luck! Hope this helps you!

Front allignment and the front passenger strut

If the strut is broken have it towed to a shop with familiar with front ends - don't drive with a broken strut. The cost could vary widely depending on what is broken. Was the car in an accident? Slide into a curb? Worked on recently? Replacing a strut and realignment is not a major operation but there could be other problems.

Our Kenmore front load washer 41741042000 was getting noisier and noisier doing the spin cycle. Then I heard a loud sound- almost like a bump or snap- while the machine was in cycle. I stopped it and now...

The struts usually only break if the loads are too heavy or unbalanced. So try doing slightly lighter loads in future. Try weighing you dry laundry just so that you can see how much the machine will really take. You may be surprised. You might also find a loose spring or two as well. So if they are disconnected just connect them back up. Also with wet washing, especially towels and blankets, they tend to clump together in the drum and force the drum off balance and at high speeds this puts extreme stress on the unit and hence maybe why you have a broken strut.
