Most jams are pretty much the same. First, try running the blades in REVERSE, that is done by using the on/off, selector switch.

If that does not solve the problem, Unplug the unit from the electrical, remove the top part from the basket. Pull out as much of the paper from the top and bottom that you can.

Replace the unit on the basket (make sure it is facing in the correct direction) and squirt, or lightly pour mineral oil (or machine oil, or something like WD-40) directly on the rollers and let it absorb into the remaining paper for a few minutes then try running the unit. If the motor does not come on, there is a fuse inside the machine that may need to be replaced.

Once you have solved the problem, you should oil the blades after every hour of use, it really makes it easier on the blades.

Also, there is an internal "heat switch" in the machine that will shut it down for about 90 minutes if the motor gets to hot. It is a safety factor in case you get something stuck, like a person wearing a tie, etc. After the machine has cooled down, turn the on/off switch to off and then back to on.

It stopped. I unplugged, and replugged, and still not working. What can I do?

There is a safety switch somewhere under the top end assembly that closes when the shredder is properly positioned on the basket. Check to ensure it is making contact.

I have a Royal VF1000MF shredder. While shredding

Try running the shredder in reverse and oiling the blades. More assistance with paper shredder oil here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Paper-Shredder-Oil

If you can't get the paper shredder back to good condition it looks like you might have to get a new paper shredder. Great place to learn about new paper shredders here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Paper-Shredders

My blades are dull and will not cut the paper. The Royal 12 X Cross cutter is a stronger shredder but it won't take but a very sheets and tears the paper instead of shredding it up. Help!

When I bought my last shredder it came with a small bottle of oil. The instructions said to put a few drops of oil on the blades now and then.

I think the oil was actually canola oil.

Read your manual to see if it suggests any lubrication.
