Most jams are pretty much the same. First, try running the blades in REVERSE, that is done by using the on/off, selector switch.
If that does not solve the problem, Unplug the unit from the electrical, remove the top part from the basket. Pull out as much of the paper from the top and bottom that you can.
Replace the unit on the basket (make sure it is facing in the correct direction) and squirt, or lightly pour mineral oil (or machine oil, or something like WD-40) directly on the rollers and let it absorb into the remaining paper for a few minutes then try running the unit. If the motor does not come on, there is a fuse inside the machine that may need to be replaced.
Once you have solved the problem, you should oil the blades after every hour of use, it really makes it easier on the blades.
Also, there is an internal "heat switch" in the machine that will shut it down for about 90 minutes if the motor gets to hot. It is a safety factor in case you get something stuck, like a person wearing a tie, etc. After the machine has cooled down, turn the on/off switch to off and then back to on.
