You should have its remote control to make it out of standby. In most cases, all remote controls for Sony devices should work with all Sony equipments with On/OFF, Volume+/-, & Program+/-. If you have any other Soney equipents' remote control, try it.
If the main board to your TV is faulty, it won't go beyond standby mode. You have to check this too.

You are all wrong.............the Sony Bravia DOES have a remote control lock........it has locked on me several times and for the life of me I don't know how to unlock the damned thing. Just press all the buttons until it unlocks.
