Its possible to do it, but better to try changing the channel on the computer and check the environment, make sure no wireless phone running 2.4 Ghz in the network or between the connection of the router and the laptop.better to move that away from the connection or not even to use it when working wirelessly.

Weak signal problem can be fixed by firmware update however, if the client computer is too far from the router, it can't be helped. What you need is a wireless range expander. What it does is give you another 100% signal or atleast stronger signal to the spot or area where you have a weak or dead signal.

After 3 years with the Linksys wireless G broadband router and excellent strength, the last 3 days my wireless router is producing a very low signal....why?

Sometimes, new interference from devices unknown to you cause the problem. Additions of a new microwave, cell phone or even faulty wiring in the house can output electrical interference.

But it is not uncommon for the Linksys routers radio to fail as well.

Consider replacing it with a newer Linksys router that will be compatible with docsis3 speeds and above.

I bought a wireless Linksys wireles- G router used for 5.00. They said that it had a weak signal. I hooked it up and sure enough I have a weak signal. So weak that it does not connect to anything but there...

I made mine into a range expander with this information

http://lifehacker.com/#!5563196/turn-your-old-router-into-a-range+boosting-wi+fi-repeater

If you up to the challenge and can follow instructions, takes about 30 min to do.
When you put on the new OS for the router you can up your signal too.

I have a Linksys WRT54g which worked beautifully for 10months. I have an ethernet connection and used it for my PC and a laptop. Now it logs on and off every couple of secs. I tried resetting the whole...

If you disconnect the router , you are able to go online. Go to the Linksys web site. www.linksys.com/download and download the Firmware of the router.
You will need to select the correct model number and the version number of the router.
The model n umber and Version number will be on the back side of the router. You will see model number in small letters like WRT54G and just after that you will see V 5 or V6 or V8. this number will be the version number.
Download the file on the computer.
connect the computer and the modem to the router again and open the router set up. Upgrade the firmware.

Weak wireless signal - WRT160N is a piece of trash

We found Linksys wifi units to be unusable a few years ago. I had a stack of them that the wifi had died or was unstable or short ranged and none of these were more than a year old. They have had quality problems for about 5 years. Tech support is handled overseas and consists of them reading off of cheat cards. If you get through to a tech you will find them not to understand any technical jargon and once not even normal non technical english.

Our "fix" (and what I'd reccomend if you want to avoidl headaches) was to yank out all remaining Linksys units and replace with a different brand. We didn't see any difference with the models, they all failed in some way. I don't know what happened to the company but they used to have a very good product. They don't have that now.

My wrt600n start playing with my speed it change it every minute from 0.3 Mbps to 14 Mbps. how i can fix it

A couple of suggestions.
First, check your signal strength. The further you are away from your wireless router, the less signal strength you have. The router compensates for this by operating at a lesser bandwidth.
Next, make sure you don't have something interfering with the wireless signal. Microwaves and cordless phones are two major culprits for messing with the 2.4Ghz signal on a "G" router.
Last, check for the latest firmware from Linksys' website. Sometimes there are buggy things that just need to have a firmware upgrade to fix. Consult your product manual or the Linksys tech support site for firmware upgrade instructions.

Linksys N router drops signal

Its not dropping you because of the spectrums, it works on line of sight. If you are in a basement and your router is upstairs it has to go thru a floor and the strength is weakened. Go into your router and increase the signal strength. But you have to mod your firmware.

remember that .. you ned to run this download opnly from the main pc whic is hard wired to the router not from any wireless computer..
if your product is more than 3 years , you can better replace your router and if it is less than 3 years..
contact linksys and get your router replaced..
