Capacitors are rated uf and voltage (35uf 5uf 370 volt) should be right for your unit but the size will be on the old capacitor.

If the fan spin freely then the capacitor could be bad. Otherwise, if it spin with difficulty then it need to be cleaned and lubbed.

Where do I locate compacitor on carrier 38txa042300 for exterior unit

If you're not familiar with working with electricity, or run capacitors, please do not attempt. If you internet search, dual run capacitor, and search by image, you'll learn what a run capacitor normally looks like(if you're not sure). Most all condensers have an electrical "panel", where most all electrical components are installed. Please be advised, run capacitors are know for electrocution! Call a professional if you are not certain.

How many tonnes does this air conditioner have?

First digit after 38CKC_0_ is the seer rating this is a 10 Seer unit.the next two digits are BTU's of cooling to the thousands. For every 12,000 BTU's you have 1 ton of air conditioning.38CKCO_36_ would be a 3 ton unit.
Serial number first two digits are the week the second two are the year24 would be 24th week. 02 would be 2002

My condensor fan and compressor on my Carrier AC (Model# 38ckc036350) stopped working, so I replaced my capacitor and they both work fine now. The problem is my house won't cool down. There is c

Often after a repair has been made, the air conditioner will take hours to readjust back to normal. When the system has been off for to long, not only does the heat in the house rise, but so does the humidity, which has to be pulled out of the air first before it really starts dropping in temp. You could have a low charge on refrigerant, dirty filters, etc. More than once I have ran into things that were just coincidence after a repair that showed up. Since you just replaced the capacitor, I would make sure the fan motor is turning in the right direction and there is nice air flow coming out of the condenser, some times if one wire is wrong, it can cause it to spin backwards, which will work, but just barely. The air needs to be pulled through the coils, not pushed. Hope this helps!

Hi!

It sounds like the capacitor and/or compressor are quitting. Try getting a Start Capacitor of the same uF (I think 35 uF for Commpressor and 5 uF for fan motor) as the one you have, OR get a Start Kit from any AC parts shop for about $10 and hook it up in line with the old capacitor, if you have a two terminal capacitor plug the terminals one, on each end, if you have a 3 terminal called DUAL Capacitor, each terminal is stamped with the words FAN, HERM and the letter C for common, one lead goes in the C terminal and the other one goes on the HERM.

Install it and turn unit ON. Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

P291-3554RS dual cap is the Carrier part that is called for.

Are you talking about a start capacitor or a run capacitor?
Usually a dual capacitor is a metal can type capacitor with 3 terminals.
C - which is run for compressor and fan.
Herm - is start for the compressor.
Fan - is start for fan.
A start capacitor is a black plastic capacitor
It is in series in the run wire to the potential relay, one side goes to run on the run capacitor and the other side goes to #1 on start or potential relay.
