KP-51HW40 Sony 51" Fades to blue screen
The service manual on page 8 shows how to adjust the Red/Blue/Green screen voltages. To get to the adjustment board, take the front speaker grill off (two screws at the bottom left and right) and set it aside. No need to disconnect any wires. Then remove the plywood board with 4 screws that exposes the screen/focus adjustments. The top 3 adjustments are for focus, and you need not mess with these. The bottom 3 adjustments are for Red/Blue/Green screen voltage rough adjustments. My screen showed red lines, so I had to turn the bottom right adjustment with a philips head screwdriver just slightly until the red gun retrace lines where no longer visible.
on my projection i get a oscilating surge in the green color on occasian i get a arc snap and a solid green flash then it settles down for awhile and then repeats itself, the red will flash any where from 5-8 times but this flashing will stop if i turn it off and back on.
what i mean a oscilating is the screen flickers no color bleeding or loss of color strength
i heard silly enough that OUR crt's are going bad (shorting) and if we bang the tv around a little it may go away for awile i was told by our friends at sony "to bad so sad" and my repair guy said sony part only...half a days labor...=500.00 approx...does anyone know the part # for the red crt.....thanks rescu26
I have the same problem and got in contact with sony and haven't done crap about it... I am seriously thinking about filming myself breaking this piece of crap and putting up on YOUTUBE for comsumers to be ware...
have a Sony KP-51HW40 television. Here is the problem the TV will not come on and then flicker blue then the TV will turn itself off. The red standby light blinks 8 times , then off, then repeats the pattern.
Can you help me with this? Is it worth fixing? I spent $350 about a year ago having it tuned up and it's been working great.
Please reply I noticed a few people with the same problem and I couldn't find your reply.
Thanks
Tony
