My scanner is not working anymore why?

Most police departments have changed the signal encoding and the old scanners don't work anymore...if it worked and now it doesn't, you'll probably have to buy a new scanner...

Try disconnecting the power supply from the electrical outlet and the usb connection to the computer for 10 full minutes and then reconnect both. This usually works.

As far as I know, the drivers are available only for Win 98 and Win NT.
I don't think the company support this scanner anymore.
Having said that, You can always try it with the new O/S without the updated driver.

They may have switched over to the trunk system, so the regular freqs wont work anymore. All city police departments are switching over, fed requirement.

Unplug your scanner, reinstall the drivers from the scanner disk, restart your computer plug your scanner back in and it should work fine.

Are you in china? if light is busted then chances are it needs replacement, you are still within warranty call 562-276-4382 for support and referral for free servicing on the scanner if you are in the states.

you may need to re program it and get a external antenna.i recommend that you get a scanner pc programming kit.

If you got this scanner to work with Windows 98, the scanner is an antique. New scanners are so much better, my first suggestion is to get a new scanner, one that works with Vista as well as XP. It will have all new software that comes with it. Otherwise you could purchase, new software such as Nuance Easy Media Creator 10 Suite, right now you can get it with Paperport 11 added in for FREE. However consider the cost of a new scanner, versus the cost of buying new software only, and running it on the old scanner.
