How do i connect the filter to an above ground intex pool?

I just purchased the hayward 71225 pump and I need to know how to connect tothe existing skimmer parts of the above ground intex pool

How do a fix an intex sand pump that will not turn on
Sounds like you have experienced a common problem. Your pump apparently had failed. The motor is in need of replacement. If this is so: my suggestion is to replace with a real Pool Industry Pump! Not an Intex toy.
Have a service provider come out and confirm this, if you can't do it yourself, then if it is confirmed that your pump failed, get one from a Pool Industry Supplier with a real pool pump like: Pentair, Hayward, Waterway or Jandy/Zodiac.

Filter stopped working
I would agree...
they are just a Toy! Sorry, I don't mean to be sarcastic, but that is how they are manufactured, not designed to last.
My customers come into my store all the time asking for pump replacements, and if they don't want to upgrade to a Real Pump and Filter, then I send them to:
Warranty Return Policy
To purchase another replacement toy,, like:
  • Intex
  • Wet Set
  • Krystal Klear
  • Cloud
  • Fun n' Sun
  • etc
and you get this...

When the pool s are purchased from walmart, kmart, target, etc
But...
If you can find it in your budget to upgrade, you can still use the same vessel, upgrade to a real filter & pump package set.

Wish to upgrade cartridge filter pump to sand filter pump. Pool size 15' X 48" / pump 1000 gph - 637R /Item no 56945 Which intex sand filter is the best one?
First, understand that sand doesn't filter as finely as cartridges, so "upgrade" may be the wrong word. Cartridges filter down to about 10 microns, sand filters to 25-30 microns. (i.e.the cartridge will catch particles up to 3X smaller than sand will.)

If you still want to change, get the biggest sand filter available that you can comfortably afford. For superior results look at above ground pump/filter packages built by Hayward or Pentair. Intex products are just built to margin and are not designed for long term usage.

Sand filter losing prime
You will see NO leak if the pump is on.
But once the pump is off, then you may see a leak.

Impeller in intex model 635 broken where can I buy replacement part?
A late answer but it might help future Intex impleller sufferers... they do not sell replacement parts and you won't find any impellers sold separately anywhere on the planet. I've had 1 Intex pool and 3 Intex filter pumps in 3 years. Last week the 3rd pump's impeller broke as well. I shan't buy their products again.

Can u hookup hayward Aquabug to intex above ground pool without disconnecting existing filter? Will both filters work at the same time? I would like to clean the top of the pool at the same time I clean...
You Aquabug pool cleaner works WITH your pools filter. You much connect the cleaner to your filter system and the filters suction is what powers the cleaner. Since they operate together, you should always run your filter while you are cleaning, but it will never operate in its normal capacity since you are using it for a different purpose. Here is a copy of the users manual if you have any questions about how the cleaner works.

Looking for an intex filter pump
The best solution to this problem not to find a replacement intex pump/filter. I suggest getting a system with a 50 square foot cartridge filter and a 3/4 hp pump such as hayward or pentair offers. You will be amazed at the difference a little quality can make.
