Kenmore microwaves are made by several manufacturers. The E-13 error may indicate a humidity sensor issue or a problem with the control board. It could also be an issue with the wiring between the sensor and the control board. Try unplugging (or turning off the circuit breaker to) the microwave for at least 30 seconds. This may reset the error. If the problem recurs, the sensor or the control board may need to be replaced. Microwaves can store an enormous amount of power in the capacitor and may be dangerous. Repairs are best done by a professional.

     If your microwave oven won't come on, ensure that the power cord is plugged into an outlet and that the power is on. Replace any blown fuses, and reset a tripped circuit breaker. If the microwave won't run, see that the door is completely closed and that nothing is stuck in it. Ensure that your door is not broken. Replace if necessary. See that you have not started the timer as opposed to the cooking function. Press "Start/Enter" to start your microwave.

     Your display will flash if your power goes out. You must reset the clock. If you do not hear a tone at the end of cooking, ensure that you have enabled the audible tone. Also check that you are using the right command. If your power goes out while your food is cooking, you must reset both the cooking time and clock.

     If you see sparks while you are cooking, remove any metal objects or plates with silver or gold trim. If your food is taking too long to cook, ensure that you have selected the correct power level for the food item. Remove any other appliance from the 20-amp circuit line. Additional appliances on the same amp will draw too much power away from the microwave. Also ensure that you have selected the correct food item in the preprogrammed menu. Each microwave has its own error codes. Always read your manual to determine what the error code means. Examples of error codes include "E-11", "E-12" and "E-13." This means that you have a defective sensor, and you must get your microwave serviced. The "SE" error code indicates an issue with your control panel.

     You may hear gear noises, especially a humming noise; the fan will automatically come on while your food is cooking. If your turntable plate makes noise, first clean it, and then see that it is positioned correctly over the roller ring. All i kind find is it's a sensor error. turn it off or unplug for a few seconds then switch on again. if the fault is persistent it will need an engineer to look at it. is it under it's 12 month guarantee still?

E-13 T1 Max time error (oven did not preheat properly). This can be due to improper power line voltage, a failing thermistor, a bad damper seal, or possibly a faulty control circuit board. I would first verify proper operation with the manual, then if it still acts up and if it's in warranty, I would contact Samsung support. But if it's out of warranty and works okay otherwise, it may not be serious enough to worry about.

These early inverter microwaves blew their high current power transistors quite regularly. These high current power transistors are quite expensive to replace, and if one blows, there is a likelyhood of others blowing. As the microwave is over 13 years old, I'd suggest getting a new one. Inverter technology in microwaves is now a mature technology, resulting in reasonable prices and much improved reliability.

I own the same Microwave and it just gave me the same error code E-13. I was heating a large plastic coffee mug of cold water using the "beverage" control. The only thing out of the ordinary was I used very cold water from the Fridge. Maybe this had something to do with the Max time error. Hopefully this was a one off error.

E-13 - T1 Max time error (oven did not preheat properly). PCB assembly may need reset or may be bad.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work,leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Otherwise, Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty.I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.
