Need a thread tenson dial for a dress maker 101

If your upper Thread Tension Dial/Assembly is out of whack, broken or missing, then you need to Re-Adjust/Re-Calibrate, Repair or Replace it with a used or new part upper "Thread Tension Assembly". New Exact Replacement Parts are usually not available on vintage machines, so you will need to (a) Buy a used part (Exact or Similar enough to be compatible and work), or
Used parts can usually be found on-line, from used parts dealers or people selling stuff on places like eBay, etsy or Craig's List.
(b) a new generic part that may need to be mounted, but may loose the ability to automatically release thread tension when the presser-foot is lifted. New generic parts are not likely for this part, so unless you can figure out how to rebuild and fix the one you have, your last option may be to bolt-on an independent industrial, "Thread Tension Assembly", that can be bought on-line from Cleaner's Supply catalog < > for the price of a cheap dinner. Hope this helps.

Ultralock singer serger 14u64a. no manual to check for schematics. Plug n checked for electric. Checked all connections

You can download the user's manual free from the Singer Sewing Machine site, and you can get the parts list--also free--from the same site by putting "parts chart" in the search box, then selecting your model number. It has all the schematics on your machine. Here's the link for the parts list.

You will find the parts list most helpful, because it will show you with drawings where each part is supposed to go. Go to the Singer site, and type "parts chart" in the Search box, then select Sewing Machines and the 9 - 900 series. Scroll down; it's towards the bottom.

My Singer 14u64A ultra lock is nearly impossible to get a decent tension...I have threaded, and reyhreaded... What in the world can I do?

try cleaning the tension dial with unwaxed dental floss, in between the disc's
then try a tension of 3 to 5
if this doesn't work the tension dial may need to be replaced

Thread keeps breaking for my Serger Ultralock 14U64A

Even with the tension set correctly this can continue to happen. After consulting Singer about an issue for my wife on another machine - they suggested cleaning the thread guide with "unwaxed" dental floss. Cleared the problem right up on that machine and the Serger. Why everyone assumes that people can't read the manual and that it is the tension is beyond me. The problem is dust (from the thread) that gets into the channel for the thread. Just like when you run clothes through your dryer - lint builds up there too. Anytime you deal with thread, especially cotton, you get cotton fiber build up.

Thread tension dial on riccar sewing mach. needs repaired

Please, tell me, is the main spintle, still on the machine, or it came off with the rest of the parts?

If you can put the tension parts, the one next to the other in front of the machine, and upload a photo for me, it will be very easy to explain how to put them back.
