The next time it chimes multiple times turn the hour hand clockwise until it is pointing at the number of times it gonged. Next take off the dial nut off (make sure to put it in a plastic bag because they can be hard to replace) and turn the minute hand until it chimes signaling 15 minutes after. Now put the minute hand back on pointing to 3 o'clock and replace your dial nut and you are all set.

SOURCE: I need a Howard Miller battery mantle clock

Try www.klockit.com. You can replace the entire movement for about $5 including new hands. You can select from an assortment of hands that will probably match the style of what you have and use those if the old hands don't fit the new movement. I've bought several movements from them over the years. For a few more dollars you can upgrade to an "atomic clock" movement which synchronizes with the US time signal and even sets DST automatically.

SOURCE: I NEED THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETTING THE CHIMES/TIME ON MY WESTMIN

Manually turn the minute hand forward until the 16 westminster chimes sound and then the hour strikes. Then remove the minute hand (it will go on in four positions) and put it back on at the 12 o'clock position. The chimes should now be back into sync.

Pressing the red button advances the chime count by one. Continue to advanced the chime count until it matched the hour shown on the clock face.

I had the same problem but the solution is unbelievably simple. Just set the hands to the time desired by turning the round button on the housing. Now you mmust tell the quartz timer/clock (plastic rectangular mechanism) the same time as you have set the hands. In this way when the hands hit the Quarter hours/half hours and the hours, the electonic chimes will chime the correct time.

Ultra simple. The two hour buttons and two minute buttons represent a 24 hour clock. Example, how to set the clock to 2:50 PM. Easy, change the 2 PM to its 24 hour counterpart, i.e. 14 hundred hours.

Move the hands to 2:55. Push the first button once for 1, push the second button 4 times, push the first M button 5 times, push the second M button 5 times. Move the set button back to run and there you have it. 1455 Hours. Not it should chime correctly. As a tip, use a brand new fresh battery to try this out.

Howard Miller grandfather clock keeps good time but chimes are off and five hours late

If you need to ask how to fix it, it probably means you shouldn't be tinkering with it.

You have something that represents a fair chunk of money and it would be wise to consult an experienced horologist about your problem or perhaps consult the manufacturer.

The cure might be as simple as removing the hands and putting them back to coincide with the chimes but it is presumably a fault that developed over time. I doubt the hands moved their relative positions by themselves but rather something inside happened.

Owning a mechanical pendulum clock is a hobby that requires some basic knowledge about how it works and how to care for it. The hands should never be turned backwards, for instance. Changing the time for daylight saving means either stopping the pendulum for an hour or advancing it by an hour and pausing at each quarter to allow the chimes to sound fully. Any mistakes will mean winding on many hours or stopping the clock and waiting.

We have a howard miller grandfathers clock we got at an auction the chimes are off it over chimes. I counted 16 chimes at 12:00 one time it chimed 51 times what can I do to remedy this problem.

STEP 3 HANGING WEIGHTS Most clocks use three weights. The bottom of each weight is labeled as to its proper hanging position as you view your clock from the front. The total weight of each weight is slightly different and each WEIGHT MUST BE INSTALLED IN ITS CORRECT LOCATION FOR THE CLOCK TO OPERATE PROPERLY. Check the weights to ensure that they are tightly assembled. Ensure that each chain is on the sprocket. Hang each weight on the solid hook at the end of the chain, never on the chain links. Howard Miller Christopher Quartz mantel clock chime adjustment

Try pulling the batteries out, set the clock to 5:45 then put the batteries back in. Set the time to 6:00 and count how many times it strikes. If it strikes 6 then your good. If it strikes a different number say 5, take the batteries back out, and set the clock to 4:45 then put the batteries back it, set clock to 5 and count the strike. Most quartz clocks reset their chimes to 5:00 when new batteries are installed regardless of the time shown on the face. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Need setting instructions for clock movement

Howard Miller offers this feature: This is how it works.

Automatic Night-Time Silencing Option
Grandfather Clocks will offer a night time shutoff option. There are 3 options on this lever.
1) "Night On" - This will keep the chime striking 24 hours
2) "Night Off" - This position will turn off the chiming between 10:15PM and 7:00AM
3) "Strike" - This position will allow the movement to strike the hour without the Westminster melody if the other Westminster melody lever is turned to Silent.

Hope this helps.
